This. Give props to the real OG that has lasted a long time, not the one that came after and crashed and burned hard after some success.
The Ghengis Khan of class based multiplayer, there's a little bit of it in descendents all over the world.
It's a shame it's both Current Year, and Marvel hasn't had a great track record with games anyway, for the most part. I enjoy Marvel the IP, generally, and if it weren't for this timeline, this could be exciting.
The concept of team ups look kind of cool, though. Not sure if it makes team comps more or less flexible, but it's a cool idea.
Some of the blame for that has to be thrown at Disney Infinity. That abomination spent five years obstructing the development of better games.
Were they pulling that shit of “you can’t do a game with these characters because they’re in Disney Infinity” or somethimg?
More like "why should we greenlight any new projects that aren't going to leverage Disney Infinity".
Some nameless fools somewhere in the organization thought the idea of selling playable characters at $10 a pop was the best thing since abusing fastpass as a hotel perk.
They didn't win every argument, some games approved anyway, but this is why Infinity 2.0 was basically "Marvel Edition".
I believe they looked at Skylanders (after it made the idea of UB Funkeys profitable) and said, "hey we can do that" and shat it out as fast as possible. No different than them making their own MTG/Yugioh clone recently, riding the trends

Who the hell is Luna Snow? Is Marvel’s roster of female characters really THAT weak?
I looked it up, Luna Snow is a recent creation, and a diversity insert. It isn't clear in the trailer, but she's Korean, and the character is written by Koreans or Korean-Americans...in 2018. Also, the character is a freaking K-pop idol. Yeah.
She was first created for...a mobile game. Created especially to be "culturally diverse." Their words.
From Wikipedia: Marvel Games Executive Creative Director Bill Rosemann commented on her debut, "Marvel has the greatest fans around the world, and they deserve heroes that they can not only cheer on as they fight evil, but also connect with on a personal level."
And apparently you can only connect with someone you share a skin color with. Again, based on their words.
So it's not so much that the female roster is weak, it's that the suitably nonwhite (and aliens/mutants don't count; it has to be a human and any race except white) female roster wasn't woke enough for their tastes so they went with a recent addition. Should have just gone with Psylocke who is, well, complicated, but sort of nonwhite. And just badass.
So, yeah, no Psylocke, or any other existing characters. We get K-pop idol diversity insert mobile game character.

Nope. Just off the top of my head, some of the big ones; Scarlet Witch, Sue Storm, Black Cat (meow!), Gamora, Rogue/Kitty Pryde/Phoenix and plenty of other female X-Men, Black Widow, Mystique, and many more.
Not even Gundam Evolution stayed around. The moral of the story is don't get into Overwatch clones.

It was more fun watching ItsAGundam rage in that game than it was playing it.
I couldn't say enough about Gundam Evolution in terms of its unit balance, because I'm not good enough at that sort of game. What I can say though, is that it did not have nearly enough variety in its match types, and that its system for judging winners was absolute bullshit. Everything had to be by a system of points, when for things like base capture, "Time Taken" should be enough of a reasonable judgment to decide a winner; instead, my team could take the base in 3 minutes, while the next one could take 12 minutes on their turn, it's a tie, go to tiebreaker.

And Overwatch just revealed a new character. A Non Binary uggo that digs holes.
They needed someone to help them dig past the bedrock they were running into.
The female characters seemed very distinctly female, and possibly even attractive, though was that Gal-lactus near the 1:42 mark?
His daughter. But yeah, it's made by an Asian studio so chances are the characters will be attractive.
On one hand its made by netease.. so it doesnt look that woke. Probably will be btly the time it releases after several passes by sweet baby or some ethics committee. Plus its by netease.. gonna be full of pay to win.
Liam O'Brian just doesn't seem like the right voice for Dr. Strange. Maybe my ~20 years of hearing him be Illidan Stormrage is tainting my perspective but I think it would fit better as a more monstrous character, not a magician.

Overwatch 2 set the bar close to the ground, so if it doesn't suck it might be able to have a decent run from disenfranchised Overwatch 1 players playing it for a little while.
Or it could suck and immediately die.
Overwatch is killing itself faster and faster. All they have to do is have decent team balance and it'll succeed.
Overwatch was the last blizzard title I ever purchased. And it really did seem like it was designed by people who wanted to make sure I stopped playing as quickly as possible.
Every update just heaped on the bullshit.
