How to spot someone who spends way too much time on social media: Can't imagine someone could watch an anime and not tweet about it or make it their whole phony fucking persona and identity. "You didn't tweet about X, you obviously don't care about X." Fucking loser.
I've been watching anime for over 25 years, and among these, here are the ones I have still not yet seen:
Patlabor, Space Runaway Ideon, Gunbuster (though that's coming up shortly!), Aim For The Ace!, Ashita no Joe, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Rose of Versailles, Gaogaigar, Getter Robo (though I'm interested and will likely see it soon), Mazinger Z, Devilman (any version), Cutey Honey (he misspelled it!), Astro Boy (I think he was going for The Mighty Atom?), Princess Tutu, Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water (he spelled it with a J...), Fruits Basket, Maison Ikkoku, Aria, Clannad, Legend of the Galactic Heroes
Of the shows listed, what I HAVE seen so far:
Cardcaptor Sakura, Baccano!, Big O, Code Geass
Not everyone has time for absolutely everything.
I can geek out for hours about how much I loved Heavy Object, though. Should have been a far, FAR bigger success than it was. At one point it actually tackles the military-industrial complex!
Pick up Baccano. It's the best fragmented storytelling I've ever encountered and the characters are fun. Good music too. Besides, how many stories do you really encounter that are set in the 1930s?
I took an educated guess. I knew Tetsuwan Atom was the Japanese name, but since the guy searched for "atom," I couldn't think of what else it could be.
Him searching for "atom" also makes me think he's one of those idiots who still says "Shingeki no Kyojin" instead of Attack On Titan, or "Boku no Hero Academia" instead of My Hero Academia, when the English titles are RIGHT FUCKING THERE.
Yeah, it was really self-report wasn't it? Apparently something doesn't exist if it's not on social media, and if you're not tweeting about it you didn't really do it!
There's this silent majority of people who watch anime who are just normal but don't go to conventions or talk about it online. Sadly they are almost totally silent
Same as the RPG gamer community. I remember going to Gen Con once (after they moved to Indianapolis) the cute greeter-girls were giving away welcome bags with soap and deodorant in the bag. Even with the freebie toiletries the bog-stench was palpable
i've been an anime/manga fan (with subs too) since 2006 .yet i do not spend my time tweeting about anime shows . but one of the easiest ways to spot a tourist is if they bitch about fanservice that has been in anime for decades
Oh look it's social studies methodology: search a thousand times and discard all the results you don't like and publish only the ones that support your position.
You're telling me this mf'er was searching for Versailles but not Eva or Cowboy Beebop. Nah he just ignored any anime that actually gave positive results. All this proves is the guy is younger than 45 and has done the S-tier titles but not the A/B-tier retro anime.
I'd rather spend another evening rewatching Angel's Egg and trying to figure out what the fuck that was about rather than put up with Shinji McEmoPants.
Don’t these same people have a hissy fit when you tell them they aren’t real fans? Like saying a Disney Star Wars fan isn’t a real fan or a fake geek girl that she isn’t a real fan
Bruh, fucking MLP has a Utena reference. Fucking Steven Universe has references to Captain Harlock, Fantaman, Akira, Utena, etc. High Guardian spice's creator's favorite anime is Pincess Tutu and Raye is a terminal fujo. Magical Girl Friendship Squad is a parody of the magical girl genre and includes references to Cutie Honey and Kill la Kill. She-Ra PoP is basically a retarded version of Utena. Doesn't stop them from being pozzed trash (save mlp, of all things). You are still parasites
The MLP comics have been consistently good. Far, far better than they have any right to be. The writing is stellar compared to anything brought out by Marvel or DC.
Yes, [i]f you spend your time bitching about tourists on internet and you've never talk[ed] about the anime you supposedly like there is a very high chance you've never seen them, correct

Stop right now, call in sick, whatever it takes, and go binge watch Legends of the Galactic Heroes. The old version.
We used to have it on disc, but before I could watch it, I had to sell it due to a financial crunch. That thing cost six hundred dollars!
But yes, noted.
Avast, matey. It be cheaper and faster to be sailin' t' high seas than that. That be too many pieces o' eight for me likin'.
My gut instinct says to hate piracy on principle. I always try to support the official release--you should see my collection.
However, I hate to say this, but I've already paid for this once...maybe you're right.
Devilman is way overrated anyway.
I spend way too much time watching Anime and have seen none of those.

Thanks I'll try it.
I’ll have to put that on my list to check out. There are so many anime to watch that even when I retire I don’t think I’ll be able to watch them all.
Astro Boy was the English Language name for Tetsuwan Atom. I grew up with the 1980s (color) remake of the original 1963 version.
It is very much for children, and it was my introduction to Japanese Animation, and it was wonderful.
You are probably a bit old for it, but you really did miss out.
I can recommend Patlabor. It is an interesting character study which is full of human motivations and politics pretending to be a giant robot show.
The robots are cool, that just isn't the focus of the show.
I took an educated guess. I knew Tetsuwan Atom was the Japanese name, but since the guy searched for "atom," I couldn't think of what else it could be.

It drives me bananas. So many sites have the title in Japanese without translation. I get that they want to be specific, but I don't speak Japanese.
I can't remember a title I have to learn phonetically.
"Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon" is memorable. "Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka" is not.
Yeah, it was really self-report wasn't it? Apparently something doesn't exist if it's not on social media, and if you're not tweeting about it you didn't really do it!
Yeah it's deranged how unfathomable it is that things can exist outside of twitter to this troglodyte.
The meme is still correct.
You know you hit hard when their only reaction is ad hominem attacks.
There's this silent majority of people who watch anime who are just normal but don't go to conventions or talk about it online. Sadly they are almost totally silent
also they smell bad
HOBO: Horrible Otaku Body Odor
Same as the RPG gamer community. I remember going to Gen Con once (after they moved to Indianapolis) the cute greeter-girls were giving away welcome bags with soap and deodorant in the bag. Even with the freebie toiletries the bog-stench was palpable
...why did this make me laugh?

Fanservice is a sign of a healthy ecosystem. If the fanservice is getting pruned then it's time to start worrying.

Eva is D tier at best.
I'd rather spend another evening rewatching Angel's Egg and trying to figure out what the fuck that was about rather than put up with Shinji McEmoPants.
Ok fair, but it's still an important education so you can truly appreciate some vintage memes if nothing else.
"Get in the robot Shinji." ?

Bronies rise up! Here's Sailor Moon. Here's two that are essentially DragonBall Z. Does Metal Gear count, since it's still Japanese?
Anyway, please enjoy.
Imagine the irony of posting this in English. A true anime fan learns Japanese.
block and mute all pronouns
So, this is the account being "roasted": https://nitter.net/markfreedom61
Upon a demand to post a "list": "I DO have an anime list, I just won't tell you."
And the closest thing I could see for a "logical" explanation of how this search result thread clinches the argument:

Is no one going to draw attention to the hammer and fucking sickle on their image?
I mean, the Palestinian flag is tacit support for Hamas and genocide, but the Soviet Union killed about a hundred million people.
To be fair, some of those are good but not well knowns that I would absolutely use to gatekeep, like Baccano.
Weebs should be ashamed to go out in public.
Nah, I just blend right in.
Are you the guy who only watches dubs?
Or is that a different guy?
That is absolutely a different guy.
The only dubs I condone are the dub for Digimon Adventure and Digimon Tamers.
