How left-wing memes are born: Take a legitimate meme and multiply the word count by 20.

Mmm, very wordy, though I do like "Warhammer is for anyone, not everyone".

Pretty much, the left have to create paragraphs to explain the joke

While the right can just point to make their joke...typically at the left as their entire life is a joke.

It's because they know they're full of shit. They can't rely on the self-evident "truthiness" of their argument, because it has none.

Forgive me if I’ve been burned by the “I’m a huge fan but we need to update for the modern audience”

I watched the companies get taken over by rainbow haired crazy women who didn't actually like it.

Yup. I agree about new fans who genuinely are interested but certain newbies need to be rejected at all costs and there are certain buzzwords that are red flags.

"Modern audiences" need to be "updated" to enjoy the classics or gtfo

They act so surprised when I say “I’m a fan of the book so I want to see it adapted, not the showrunner’s story”

____ is for anyone, not everyone.

Succinct, and a very nice distinction. If you actually enjoy and respect the thing in question, welcome. If you're not a fan, and trying to change it, fuck you.

Also, fuck the original meme, disingenuous little fucks. You know this was made by one of the cultural faggots the response mentioned want to corrupt things.

"Yeah, More people joining the hobby only benefits the community and the franchise allowing more big projects and such in the future."

They must know that's not true. But they're also brainwashed cultists, so maybe they don't.

If the "more people joining" don't care about the source material, and the people writing it are gearing it toward them, that doesn't "only benefit the community."

As for "allowing more projects," same problem. If the direction the the projects suck, I'd much rather have the hobby in question remain smaller but more accurate to its existing history, then have those "big projects."

Made by someone who was never a real fan. Similar to the “I’m a huge comic book fan” people at the height of the MCU. Where are they now?

What’s funny is that I have a number of avengers comics from the 80s when she was a member/in charge and she was a good character. Of course Disney would ruin her

I remember reading them. She was great. They fail because they don't understand the difference between competent and mary sue.

James Bond is competent. Doctor Who is competent. I actually disliked tennant and McCoy at times because they were a little too Mary Sue.

They must know that's not true.

Remember when video games first got mainsteam big, so the first big projects were Uwe Boll movies and horrific money milking practices that could now work with large enough install bases?

They don't because they didn't join in until all of that was already done and in place.

The left is anti-gatekeeping only up until they have reached critical mass and have taken over the hobby. After that they are more then happy to exclude you, using every means they can.

The left is anti-gatekeeping only up until they have reached critical mass and have taken over the hobby.

It's worse than that; they don't have to reach critical mass within the hobby, as they're experts at directing and riding the cultural currents. Even before they've taken over your hobby, they insert Current Thing into it by means of cultural bullying. As an example, look at how it's not safe to criticize the alphabet people in almost anything, including spaces that haven't reached critical SJW mass.

That is much a case of wokeness being an establishment-led phenomenon. The degenerate elites have all the connections and power needed to insert themselves into any hobby or industry and make demands with little effort. So you get people like Taylor Lorenz or John Walker Flynt able to shut down internet services on request. Sometimes an influential SJW troll is only a puppet for someone else, other times they have those connections that all "privileged" people have because they are the 1%.

They're not against gatekeeping on principle. They're only against something when they're not benefitting. It doesn't matter if they're a minority or majority, if their team is hurt, it's literal murder.

The idea of "constant growth" is Corporate ideology that they have poisoned us into thinking its necessary. A hobby doesn't need indefinite growth, it doesn't need to live forever, and it certainly doesn't need to breach other markets.

In can in fact simply exist on its own with its partakers enjoying its existence in their own way until they die or move on. That doesn't make the company absurd money however, which is why they convince people that it needs to be constantly gaining more people and welcoming constantly.

So, as always, Leftist talking points are just them being stooges for the corporations they claim to hate while they whine about not getting the toy they didn't even want in the first place.

That's what led to World War I. The constant growth mantra stopped because they had taken over the world and and now only had each other to battle. The Bismark take over style was completely misunderstood and so many thought they could follow his moves just as wisely. Heck, they still believe that today.

That's really what blue ocean marketing is about. Stop aiming for the same territory everyone else is. Too many think it means break into niche markets to grow instead of making something new.

Makes me think of Budweiser. Tried to reach a new customer base, instead of being content at being the most popular in the market, and they managed to piss off their current demographic, making a significant portion leave and never come back.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 2 ▼
– Adamrises 2 points 2 years ago +2 / -0

Its much worse than Budweiser. Those are consumable products, so you technically need to continue giving them money indefinitely to recieve the "service."

Warhammer and other hobbies are one and done. Once you've got your figures and a rule book you basically never need to give them a dollar again. They need to draw you back with newer and cooler things to keep the money flowing.

The idea of "constant growth" is Corporate ideology that they have poisoned us into thinking its necessary.

It's funny, cause the leftists usually love to point this out anytime. But somehow in hobbies it's "different".

Here's a most recent book cover: https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/File:SeaOfSouls.jpg

Or how about this catachan novel? https://www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/SZ8MVc7BjY8ejqV8.jpg

Or the Emperor being made a future Dark King (fifth god of chaos, god of fascism and oppression), even though Imperium has really gone shithole only because of his absence? Mind you, it's ok for the Emperor to be a morally grey figure, but oppression or micro-control dickery is certainly what the Emperor is not, otherwise the whole Heresy would not have happened.

The whole franchise is already a genestealer cult by this point.
