Given how diverse the Panther movies were, how could anyone, let alone Marvel game designers, know if it was OK for a huwhite m*le to culturally appropriate a totes real African nation's salute?
And it worked. Wakanda became a massive cultural hit that everybody now recognizes and is embedded deep enough to be randomly referenced all over the place.
Its probably one of the most impactful MCU movies in terms of staying power out there simply through sheer force of pushed narratives and forced virality.
Miles Morales and Peter Parker have a lot in common, both swinging around New York City in spandex as Spider-Man and compulsively quipping at bad guys before punching their lights out. The duo even share skill tree points in Insomniac Games’ recently released Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. However, only one of them can do the Black Panther movies’ famous “Wakanda forever” pose in Insomniac Games’ latest, and it isn’t the person whose name rhymes with Beter Barker.

One's been doing it decades longer, and is the original, while the other is a raceswap, but let's move on...
Miles didn't completely start out that way, no more than any of the additional Robins were in their time.
But because he was basically one of the only black heroes made in the last 40 years to even slightly take off, they stripped him of everything possible to make him the face of black capeshit. And they refuse to let go of him after Enter the Spiderverse succeeded.
Isn't he alternate universe Spider-Man, unlike some of the other Robins and the like, who took up the mantle for whatever reason? That right there is already a pretty big distinction; he's not Spider-Man Spider-Man, he's some alternate offshoot who was given a bunch of prominence because of his skin color.
Not even saying he's a bad character, per se, just that cries of "oh, he's just Spider-Man" aren't exactly all there is to it either.
Its been a long time so my details might be off, but his alt universe had a Peter Parker. Who had just straight up died in a genuinely fitting way, which is the reason why Miles took the name and tried to live up to his legacy because he had the same powers. Which is basically the exact story that happened with some of the Robins and why I compared him to them specifically despite being from DC.
And it was the Ultimate run of comics where a lot more wild changes happened to basically everyone as they tried to make incredibly different versions of basically everyone.* I'm still upset at how they did my boy Carnage in that one. But its the most respectful of any "replace with a clone" variations we've seen, as it genuinely shows the huge shadow Peter casts on every action Miles takes.
He was never Spiderman, just Spiderman 2. Anyone claiming otherwise was always trying to pull something stupid. But he at least initially was his own character beyond just a raceswap, and is basically one of the only ones who was done with any reverence.
*Its also where they first made Nick Fury black, and based on Sam Jackson. Which is a far more egregious raceswap because they straight up just made his MCU version black and now literally no one remembers his original white character.
I mentioned it before, but I simply consider there to be two different Nick Furys. The first one is from WW2, and would be extremely old or dead by the time the MCU takes place with its completely different Nick Fury who would probably have been a Gulf War I vet if anything.
When I saw one of Miles' suits is literally wearing sneakers over the costume and has a hole in the top of the head so his incredibly black hair can spill out, I asked myself the same thing.
I wonder if anyone will have the balls to suggest he should've just taken up his uncle's mantle as a heroic character.Though the usual suspects would scream themselves hoarse over a black superhero called 'The Prowler'.

It's that generic a "salute" Deadpool did it for his X-Force team in Deadpool 2.
Diversity was always code for anti-white and anti-male. They want your toys but will jealously guard their own. Very similar to feminists.
I would argue black panther is super cringey to any aside from black people who believe they were the ancient Egyptians/Greeks/Vikings etc
I’m not surprised some handshake has that opinion.
“Racist", the refuge people use when they have no real argument.
Black Panther was terrible. The movie was propped up entirely by identity politics.
your buzzwords have no power here
Lol. Go back to watching your marvel movies

And Rotten Tomatoes including it in all of its top 100 lists of 'all time best movies evah'.
It may be a cultural touchstone but it seems to be used sarcastically more than it is used positively.
In fact the positive uses are hilariously cringy.
Nick Fury was blackwashed.
David Hasselhoff is the real Nick Fury.
You say Tomayto, I say Tomahto.
Isn’t this what you wanted?

I thought the Robins simply outgrew being sidekicks, like Nightwing did. (Or maybe got killed, because no comics code.)

Miles greatest foe, an Asian Man. Glad they are doing some accuracy.
However, only one of them is Spider-Man, and the other is Miles Morales.
Are we sure this game isn't actually subtle satire?

he got that SWAGGER
THE EXAGGERATED SWAGGER OF A BLACK TEEN
BUT NOW YOU CAN PLAY IT
We're never sure.
Peter Not Being Able To Do the Wakanda Salute Is Brave, Inclusive and Anti-Racist... and That's a Good Thing!
What in the literal fuck is a "Wakanda Forever" pose?
Do you like squat like you're taking a shit?
Arms crossed over the chest with fists at the shoulders making an X of all things.
How's that not the X-Men pose? Anyways, thanks.
