He said, "but what about the Economics departments?". Again, they're not even 50-50 in the Economics departments. Economics might have the most Republicans hovering around 20%.

This is why they think 50% of America is black, 30% is gay, 10% is transgender, 20% of Covid patients die, and that somewhere around a thousand unarmed black people are killed every year by the police. The correct numbers are 12%, 5%, <1%, 0.01%, and around 14.
Watch the TV for a day, turn it off, then tell yourself that the numbers you saw on the TV are significantly under-representative of reality. That's how mind-fucked they are.
