'The Witcher' Casting Director Admits To Using Her Job To "Affect Change" In Viewers And Manipulate "Their Unconscious Bias"
Casting director Sophie Holland, who has worked on a number of big name genre projects including Netflix's Wednesday, The Witcher, Shadow and Bone as well as Prime Video's The Peripheral recently revealed how she uses her position to push her own political...
Casting director admits 5 years later to doing something that was obvious from the first poster. We know, Sophie. We always knew. There's a limit to what is supposed to remain 'unconscious.' You literally ONLY made one good casting decision, and that was, we have found, because he went over your head and pitched himself directly to the producers hard for months before they said yes.
You are admitting to being the reason that losing that one cast member is torpedoing your show. I guess one way to get ahead of it is to claim you were trying to be a good Party member. They can't fault you for that, hopefully, yeah?
Well, she manipulated me into not tuning in to watch.
Mission accomplished?
Expectations subverted!!
Cavil was the only watchable part of that. Everything else was gay aids.
You can manipulate unconsciously easier when you put some nice tits on screen, you making everyone look frumpy just made everyone notice the shit.
This show should’ve been a slam dunk. You had the lead super pumped about playing the role and was extremely knowledgeable about source material. I’m glad Cavill left the show and the one writer who left confirmed what we already suspected. The one good thing is that it made me buy the books. They are in my immediate “to read” stack.
But a Woman who wants to be powerful would never promote a large natural breasted woman
Hmm, that's crazy. We never would have guessed if she hadn't told us!
Well I'm sure this was just an isolated incident and not something being done for decades by almost all western media made by people who all share the same nihilistic ideology and hatred of truth, beauty, and White people.
I’m average looking at best. I understand that some men and women were blessed with good looks. I do t throw a fit because an attractive person is in a show. Standards of beauty will always exist
I was already consciously biased against most modern entertainment, so that's a swing and a miss from this bitch, in my case.
You know what the only thing that will change is? The director and series going from active to deleted.
Well ya done screwed up. You manipulated my conscious bias instead.
You have succeeded in manipulating my unconscious bias into a conscious bias. Against you.
If everyone has an unconscious bias, maybe you do too lady.
And the fact that you went out of your way to ruin something to prove a point just means you're a vindictive little snot who thinks they know better than everyone else.
You took something good and fucked it up.
Maybe reflect on your unconscious bias to destroy everything, and not fuck things up in the future.
We all know they do these things completely intentionally, but it's always nice when they're so stupid and overconfident they come out and admit it.
Effect change.
The funny thing is the semi successful season 1 spawned all these lame ass live action series for anime and games.
Oh I didn't know she did Shadow and Bone as well. That Netflix trash-fire had some of the worst casting decisions I've ever seen, and they stank of diversity hires. They made one of the witches overweight (body positivity, I guess?), threw in random gay people, black people, asian people it was such a mess of diversity insertions that it was actually extremely distracting.
You'd see a new character and immediately know why they were hired and hint - it wasn't acting ability.
People belittle me when I say most modern media seeks to brainwash you, but that's exactly what this is. Unconscious conditioning. They want to forcibly, underhandedly, change the way you view the world - to cut you off from the truth and implant their own. They just call it normalization or use other insidious language.
Even people like you and me, who are aware of it, would not be completely immune if we chose to consume this garbage. Our conscious minds can separate fact from fiction but this shit goes after subconscious, which has more trouble with that.
But I've been biased against Hollywood for years. They didn't have to sell me!
How is it that I can not-care SO MUCH, about this...
What's a witcher?
Haven't bothered to watch but a quick search shows that it was a swing (of the fugly stick) and a miss on the casting of both Ciri, Yennifer and Triss.
What a sad group of unfortunate looking women. The fact that Cavill didn't just get up and walk out of the first table read reflects badly in him as well.
Looks like she really nose her stuff
A tribal style face-tatoo would probably help at this point.
Hey why are there so many stories about witches living in the woods of Europe?
Oy vey!
Kinda the way I expected.
But even more ugly
