Nothing, see SkullGirls controversy (+ no refunds), BLM troll game surviving infinitely long due to their woke employees, and another fresh example of their authoritarianism - https://www.sankakucomplex.com/2023/07/13/aquaplus-ecchi-dungeon-travelers-series-steam-release-cancelled-due-to-guidelines/

Everyone at Valve can go fuck themselves. Pirate everything. Buy on other platforms (DMM, DLSite, Johren, etc.).

I got Chaos Gate, only a couple of hours in.

Very competent xcom clone with a 40k skin.

Graphics are strong and models are in the spirit of the tabletop game. The chapter master being angry at the inquisitir girl during your monthly report never gets old.

The Valve complete bundle. I had at least half of it already too, but I wanted Half Life 2 and the expansions so I could play some of the great total conversion mods for it. Figured I'd take the whole bundle and get PC version of Portal along with the Half-Life expansions I've never played among some other things I think are multiplayer only and really old.

You hit my favorite category of games though. I've played most of those. Doom 3, RTCW, and MoH: Allied Assault easily on my all time favorites list. Didn't care for Doom Eternal I ended up not finishing it because I was sick of platforming. Sim City 3000 too, wow the hours I had in that 20 years ago. One of these days I'm going to pick up one of those Swat games. I think it was Swat 3 I played before, but I can't remember that was a long time ago and it was my brother's game technically so I don't have it anymore.

When you finally bore of those you should check out Prodeus and Dusk for newer games. I assume you've tried Quake 1 and/or 2 and the 2016 Doom, right? 2016 Doom is a can't miss and Quake 1 had a nice re-release a year or two ago so it's easy to play on modern systems.

I tried Prime on Wii but I never could get over the motion controls. If I get bored enough I'll pick up the new Switch version. Or what I'm really thinking is the special Dolphin emulator version that uses modern controls. I'd be more into the Switch version if they'd offered up all three games. One short FPS game is just an extreme stretch for me to pay $40 for.

It wasnt directly on sale, but I snagged up Jagged Alliance 3 since it had a pretty hefty discount for preordering (and it comes out tomorrow). Looks like they are running that nice ground everyone has always wanted, where they are updating the old Jagged Alliance formula with modern graphics and strategy improvements, but they want to stay true to the old style for the story. To the point the studio who made it brought in the old writer for the original games.

Then the tail end of the year is going to be a very busy one for me, with Armored Core 6, Cities: Skylines 2, and Manor Lords coming out (maybe on Manor Lords, since it is still kind of up in the air).

Oh, thanks for the reminder. I just mentioned in my other comment that I was considering, but didn't realize it came out so soon, and would have missed the discount. So, if I do decide to pull the trigger, guess I'm buying it tonight.

I also put that Iron Oath game on my wishlist, so I guess let me know what the actual status of those reviews is.

Almost nothing, I don't tend to get a whole lot of games.

I got Soulstone Survivors, which is one of those Vampire Survivor type games.

Only other thing I got, just today, was Iron Oath, and that was actually over at Humble. I like those sorts of mercenary management and tactics games. Hopefully this one is good; it had generally good reviews, but also some complaints. Although some sounded like the usual PEBCAK and "I've never played a single tactics game ever" complaints.

There were others I considered getting, but nothing I pulled the trigger on. Might still get Jagged Alliance 3 and/or Hard West 2 soon though.

Rogue Legacy 2: Good ol Roguelite fun

Volcanoids: Good ol build base / craft shit / murder shit marred by shit optimization that tanks framerate the farther you get into the game (game runs on a single core or some bullshit).

Salt 2: solid jank piratey game, needs sea shanties though

Astlibra: Damn good side-scrollin action rpg ala castlevania with some weird dev fetish shit moments

Urge: Piss, piss everywhere

Undermine: Good shit but fuck them loot blobs stealin my shit

Broforce: Guns, Explosions, Muscles and Murrica

Halls of Torment is fantastic. It’s like Vampire Survivors with a Diablo 2 aesthetic, much improved questing and mechanics, and no tranny Jim Sterling bullshit.

Remnant 2 is due in a couple weeks. Looks badass.

I ended up getting Street Fighter 6 because it has good rollback netcode and Halls of Torment since it is a fun roguelike hack and slash that only cost me 4 bucks.

The rollback netcode is honestly good :)

Also I am maining Cammy. She is a fun rushdown character that fits my playstyle and she looks great.

Street fighter 6 is pretty accessible for fighting game beginners. They have an alternate control scheme called modern controls that makes it easier to execute special moves and super moves without doing inputs like quarter circle forward and half circle motions.

SF6 is a good fighting game for beginners to start with.

I actually really am not enjoying SF6. It feels clunky to me and that is not helped at all by how they've implemented my girl Juri. All of my inputs are scrambled from 4 and they still haven't given her full toolset back. The character was absolutely butchered in SF5 and SF6 only really brought her dive kick back while the system mechanics ensure that she can't actually implement her gameplan. It's fucking skinsuits all the way.

Can I just get SF4 with rollback? It worked for Guilty Gear Xrd...

TL;DR: Dungeons of Sundaria, Oniken and Odallus: The Dark Call

I like me some older style pixel games. I noticed an Oniken and Odallus bundle for cheap so I picked them up. Odallus is not as hard as Oniken, but they're a different style of platformer. Oniken is more akin to Wizards and Warriors mashed with Powerblade, and Odallus is more like Faxanadu mashed with Castlevania in terms of gameplay.

The other one I picked up was Dungeons of Sundaria, which is turning out better than expected, if a little sparse. You can tell what they're going for, but it still needs more time in the oven. However, it is early access, so you know how that might go. Still, what game is there is genuinely fun if you like dungeon crawling with D&D 5e style rules.

Bought an Ender 3 instead, got a great deal on a used one just down the road. Just set it up, printed one of those little boats everyone uses to test, then I found a .22lr chamber flag I kinda needed anyway. Printed, tested and works perfectly.

Was already playing with Fusion 360 so this is going to either be my new thing or end up collecting dust after a week.

Bunch of games I'd been following that were under $5 (most under $3, some even under $1) that were mostly some combination of strategy, puzzle, and roguelike/lite. Also a couple slightly more expensive games that had some nostalgia value to them, and Outer Wilds, which was recommended by a friend who I find tends to have reasonably compatible preferences for games with me.

I'd list the specific games, but it's like 20-30 in all and you aren't gonna get a discount on them now, so maybe come back to this post at the next sale after I've been able to play them and tell you which are worth getting.

The Grim Dawn expansions. I bought the base game about a week before the sale hit on a whim, so I just picked up the rest. It's a very good Diablo game.
