And then they came for The French Connection

I'm sory for ranting here, but that is such a retarded take. The "its a private company, they can do what they want" statement. Allrighty! I, as a private corperation, won't hire any women! "Oh no no you can't do that!!".
The fool just kept on going about this. "Oh, the bigots are mad. Good." That sort of thing.
I really hope that's another bot.
What a faggot.
They dehumanize their opposition to justify ignoring them. I wonder where I've seen that tactic before?
Sure it’s a private company but where does it end? Plus she sounds like the type to have a hissy fit over “misgendering”
If Disney supports changing a product without proper acknowledgement I see no reason why I can't change a line in Disney's TOS.
Oh you don't like people editing your content? Don't return the favor.
The line in question was a crooked cop saying "Never trust a (racial slur, six letters, hard R)." Another guy tells him "He could've been white," and the first guy responds "Never trust anybody."
Do you mean "nigger"? You can write that around here.
I'm not that kind of guy.
There have been TEENAGE GIRLS in Europe who have been ARRESTED and PROSECUTED for posting copies of rap lyrics that contain the N-word.
They literally got a crooked cop onto the court stand to testify she was offended by seeing the world.
You will be.
You. Will. Be.

In college, I was an egalitarian, and I laughed at my Afrikaner friends who told me that blacks shit up everything, no exceptions. And then I worked for most of a decade in a government agency.
I hate niggers now.
Funny how first hand exposure changes a well meaning but naive opinion.
No, I will not.
c'mon man, that kind of thinking is exactly what got us in this place. it's not a magic word. people don't magically die when it is uttered, certainly not when it's spoken for reference sake.
if someone gives you shit for saying nigger in reference to the term itself, dissociated from any person whatsoever, then even if they're white, you should mock them for being low IQ, not being able to understand context.
Well, sometimes they do when they utter it in front of a nigger
it's not that he's just choosing not to say it. he's afraid of saying it, even referentially. that's wildly submissive, and opens the door for them to act like children whenever it's said. stop being such a pussy and act like a grown ass adult.
i'm saying don't be a pussy
What kind? Literate?
Why I started buying DVDs again
It's funny though. Although they may have been upset, the post doesn't indicate so. But the other one goes straight for the ad hominem because they have no argument against calling out Disney for being censorious little shits.
One could stretch and say that detailing "without notice, warning, or statement" implied a demand for one of those, which is apparently unreasonable entitlement.
I think the general assumption when you buy or view a film is that unless you are told that it's cut or edited you are viewing the original theatrical presentation. We all grew up with a warning before every movie on broadcast TV that said it was "edited for time and content".
Even if not strictly required, it's still a best practice to alert viewers if you have made changes to a film. The fact that they did it silently without putting a disclaimer in the actual film, or even telling people they were doing it pretty much shows that they knew it would be viewed as improper and/or inappropriate.
The fact that it is done in complete secrecy-shadow censorship- always indicates a guilty mind.
At least the japanese are open when they blur genitals.
Pirates remain unaffected.
The scene in question
Oh no, the poor black people. Whatever shall they do? Someone saying the gamerword kills millions of people each day!
I wonder what implications this has for copyright.
Since the original version has been disavowed by the copyright holder, does that mean it's no longer protected?
Conversely, could they go after people who still have copies of the original for owning a "modified" copy?
Probably not, but I wonder what recourse there is for people trying to preserve original versions of these movies.
How ironic that this altered version of the film is the only one available on the Criterion Channel. Here's the mission statement from the Criterion Collection website:
Nonsense like this is why I like having a GF that's a garage sale fanatic. I have a stack of 38 gallon storage containers full of movie and game DVD and Blu-Ray discs.
Pretty sure I have an unsullied version of the French Connection in one of them.
İf its not big deal why was it done?
I thought that content warnings were supposed to be in lieu of straight up censorship.
God I hate lolbertarians
He is so not that.
