Anything you store on Drive they own. The crazy part is people seem to believe they can fight and win against them too.
Does this mean we can get dubs without the political BS attached?
I'll laugh if these kinds of VAs are replaced by AI yet the Japanese ones like the VAs behind Ainz, Dio and Nagatoro aren't facing the same issues.
From what I have heard, a lot of Japanese companies have also been starting to do the translations for dubs themselves, to try and cut down on the BS (which is also what has caused a lot of the much better dubbing in recent shows). And if that doesnt work? You know damn well they will start hiring them on their own.
I looked, but I can not for the life of me find the source again. But I very distinctly remember hearing from somewhere that the Japanese side studio was heavily involved with the dub work for SpyXFamily, and other studios were showing interest (after one too many times of their work being fucked with).
Cry my a river. Cushy job, high pay, little mental/physical effort required, unions, don't even have to maintain your physical health or appearance. Even programmers arguably abuse their bodies more than voice actors.
That's not to say I don't appreciate when voice actors do solid quality work, but they've had it pretty damn easy. Once a voice actor gets their foot in the door they hardly have to worry about finding a new line of work or busting their butt to find new gigs.
AIs can do the voices, but they cannot ACT.
Neither can most background voice actors in games. Ff15 cast a young black man with blaccent to voice many, many minor characters and vendors. When the old white man sounds like a young black dude, it’s jarring.
True, having such an accent should really limit what you can do.
Not every black VA can be as good as, say, Beau Billingslea.

Troy Baker can suck a big floppy donkey dick too. Used to have mad respect for the guy, but the way he defended TLOU2 was pathetic. Hope he loses work and ends up giving hand jobs on the subway.
His voice is so generic, it might as well be generated by an AI.

That could soon be something of a dead-end, at least for certain kinds of programming work. Probably one of the few fields where I do find myself a little sympathetic about how AI may impact their jobs.
Oh wow. I'm not the best at translating legalese, but it looks like they saying in that contract that they'll use voice recordings from voice actors to train an AI to talk like them, so they don't need them anymore. Is that right?
They don't need a contract to do that. Think Rogan or Peterson signed a contract to have AI learn their voices?
I get it. But I think it's a little different when it's the company you work for doing that, and not just random people on the internet.
