100% the victim talked to the police, and incriminated himself somehow. Especially in a liberal paradise like NYC, never talk to the police after a self defense shooting. The only words out of your mouth should be "LAWYER" and "I do not consent to any searches or seizures". Then you shut your mouth. Don't talk to the cops, the media, your family, your friends. Let your lawyer do all the talking.
a few months ago, a jogger was on video attacking a bogeda worker who is an immigrant from dominican republic. the jogger walks around the counter and just starts wailing on the latino. the latino takes a few hits, grabs a knife and stabs the jogger, killing him pretty quickly. whole thing is on video from a very clear angle, very close up too. there's no legitimate factual dispute as to what happened.
bragg charged the latino for murder, all for defending himself from a convicted felon jogger.
NYC will actively prosecute any non-black person claiming self defense, doesn't matter how innocent. do not cooperate with the police in any way. everything else you said is correct.
If the cops want to arrest you and the DA charge you, they have ways to make you incriminate yourself:
Intimidation
The Reid Technique
Good Cop, Bad Cop
The PEACE Method
Even something as innocent as the cop saying "he really deserved it huh?" If you agree, you just victim blamed your victim, and this fact will be used against you in court. People have no idea how much trouble seemingly innocent conversations with cops can cause. Shut up and lawyer up.
If this is on security tapes, they need to release it. The lack of a video to make the rounds on social media means far less public awareness of the event, means far smaller outcry, means this doesn't get dropped and he actually has to go to trial for not sitting back and allowing himself to be murdered by a thief.
What's gonna be the argument, that after wrestling the gun the attacker was unarmed and therefore the shooting was disproportionate? Did the attacker lift his hands in surrender and was shot after two seconds of the owner thinking it over? Even in that worst case scenario, I'm not sure if it's appropriate to punish the owner.
An unarmed man is still a lethal threat. Anyone who disputes this has never experienced physical combat and should be disallowed from having opinions on the matter.
SMH the damn shooter didn't even give the other guy a chance to say "Shit, you got my gun! Alright my man, you win this round. No hard feelings." and walk away to become the model productive citizen he would surely be after that humbling defeat in fair combat.

bragg is a racist douchebag.

Sorry, typo in title. He SHOT the attacker, he did not KILL him.
I was going to ask, how do you get charged with attempted murder for killing someone?
Wasn't that one of the charges Chauvin got along with both First and Second degree murder of the same person?
You may be right.
He comes back in the sequel.
You get what you vote for.
What I was thinking. This guy is notorious for supporting criminals over victims
This is indeed what NYC voters want. This and political prosecutions.
Justice is supposed to be blind, not the District Attorney.
Sounds like this guy is a threat to the rule of law.

Especially one that has already displayed their intent to kill you by actually fucking shooting you

Not to mention, there is no assurance he isn't carrying another weapon
DA elected by criminals does wha....?
he should be given a handshake by the chief of police and sent on his way.
Bet: because white.
"parking attendant Moussa Diarra"
Yeah, I don't think so.
Hang tight. This guy doesn't move without intersectional purpose...
Of that I have no doubt.
Not white. But not dark enough to be protected either.
