Absolute virtue signal. Until they are making Razer gear out of corn husks 'reduce carbon footprint' is laughable.
Reduce carbon footprint is code for genocide. We are carbon based life. Why do plant nurseries pump Co2 into the greenhouses? Why when Earth had the most biomass in it's history were Co2 levels at their peak (during the life bearing epochs)? More Co2 = more plant life = more fauna. We're coming out of an ice age. We'll be in the tail end of it for 1000's more years. This is all a scam.
If they really want to help the planet, stop their corporate buddies from ground/water pollution. The atmosphere is fine.
Not pure virtue signal from their standpoint, they're also making money from it. They're getting the idiots to pay extra to pay their tax write-offs for them.
There is one problem though, their crap has the best polling rates right now and they are one of the few high end mouse manufacturers that actually have side scrolling.
Which is sad. I tend not to buy anything just based on brand, but I've been very happy with Logitech peripherals over the years, and they were one of the few brands I went out of my way to purchase if there was something I needed. Logitech makes some good shit.
I've been using DeathAdder mouse since 2013. The only thing that wore out is the scroll wheel, which still works, it just doesnt' have as sharp of stopping points.
I am not buying Mad Catz hardware again as the company assets were sold to HongKongers, meaning the company is now at the mercy of the PRC and could be made to do shit such as distribute spyware via drivers.
Edit: My mouse was one of the pre sale models, the second scroll wheel was a fuckin macro.
I stopped buying their stuff after they refused to honor a warranty for a product under warranty. Unfortunately I’m sure their competition is just as woke.
Jokes on you, I’ve been not buying their products for years now! Their applications to use their RGB stuff is a massive memory hog and their shit is overpriced.
Razor has crappy products that break shortly after you purchase them.
A quick look at r/razer is all anyone needs to know that you should expect to file an RMA if you decide on buying their products.
The only Razer product I ever purchased (mouse) began having issues after 2 weeks and became insufferable as time went on. I couldn't even return it because, nowadays, the return period is about 15 days (at least at Best Buy). I ended up tearing the mouse down and fixing it myself, but other issues cropped up that's either Windows/Driver related or just crappy hardware to begin with.

Good point. They are profiting from their bleating.
It's razer dude. They found a way to make money off this.
If you do boycott them, let them know why. Simply not buying does not get your message across without this detail.

God I hate the monopoly rape.

Yup, I've experienced that. Still, it usually takes a few years, and I've had other mice fall apart too. I generally like Logitech's products.
What mice have you had good luck with?

Logitech?
Logitech is too busy releasing one new color a year for the G Pro X Superlight.
The g502 (and I think 503 for wireless version?) exist though, and have for a long time
I've had mine for something like 6 years now and it's been perfectly fine the whole time.
At the very least, use OpenRazer drivers if you can.
My R.A.T. 8+ has a side scroller.and it's a third of that price.

Carbon credits are as fake as the fiat currency you used to pay for them.
I find Razer's products to be overrated, so nothing of value lost for me.
My Razer mouse is great and was the only real one I could find without rubber or silicone.
Their software is absolute dogshit though. As if I'm going to sign in to some internet tracking account to set the rgb color.
I've been punishing Razer for 15 years already.
If you want a mouse, go on Amazon and buy the cheapest piece of chink shit in sight. It will be just as good as a Razer.
It'll even have the same flashy RGB, but it'll work without a shitty app on your computer.
Jokes on you, I’ve been not buying their products for years now! Their applications to use their RGB stuff is a massive memory hog and their shit is overpriced.
Are you rich? Virtue signaling aside, that price tag makes me nauseous.
No, I'm a failure...
Already am since they added what was effectively online DRM to their mice.
Why the unholy fuck would I be buying $10 worth of Made in China Crap for $229 anyways?
Let the "Progressives" waste their money on it. They're marketing to brain dead posers.
Sadly, not the only company doing this shit. We're running out of options quickly but if you can help it: don't buy razer anyways.
For the love of god don't buy Razer products. They're overpriced crap.
If you want a good keyboard I suggest the GMMK or GMMK2. Cheaper, better quality and has RGB goodness.
Found some good alternatives to this from EVGA.
Their mice even have 8000hz polling rates.
Seems pointless.
I thought carbon offset was widely considered a scam among normies.
I mostly use Silvercrest and Exibel mouses. I do have very specific size and shape requirements for my mice, so it's not easy to find.
“Pay us money to change the climate 👍”

Just stay away from Razer at all costs.
Luckily I already moved to their competitors. A year and a half and the scroll wheel on their mice breaks like clockwork.
How about they strengthen that point of failure so you don't need a new mouse every year.
Its like homer simpson robocalling people asking them to send him 2 dollars so they can get eternal happiness haha.
if you actually cared about your precious fictional cArBoN fOoTpRiNt, you'd shutter your company forever and recycle the remaining stock.
