"The next version removes a bunch of features."

Modern software development.

Forgot to add:

"Also, it will be noticeably slower, require more RAM, and have a larger install size. The features that were preserved will be moved around and hidden in a totally new UI."

Presumably in the coming years they'll transition over to a 'subscription model' too. Definitely my favourite aspect of all my modern software is that I apparently don't own said software.

Holy shit they're burning processing power on making it worse. I can't think of a more irresponsible use of resources.

I disagree with you on Task Scheduler pretty emphatically if for no other reason than Windows a whole host of other software make use of it to take care of regular maintenance, updates and security. Just because the end user never schedules a task doesn't mean you can disable Task Scheduler without dire consequences for the system.

Let me get this straight.

You want end users who are too stupid to use Task Scheduler to deploy their own updates manually, just so you can disable Task Scheduler?

Every AI that works well has to be deliberately made worse.

Only the publicly accessible ones. The private ones about tracking and manipulating the masses can stay as powerful as they can make them.

Thankfully open source lasts forever. I just started working with 1.4 right before this update and the license was already annoying and woke enough... but since they put it on the Internet it can't be stopped. They can't force everyone to comply with the license either. The only way to gimp it now would be infecting everyone with the woke mind virus so we all self-censor by choice.

The genie is out of the bottle. I think we'll see an explosion of novel discoveries in this field in the next 1-5 years, not unlike when id software open-sourced their 3D engines.

Mine is fine when it comes to temps. I don't train often though.

It's extremely demanding of even top-end computers, but yes. I tried to run it on mine, it took one look at my GPU and just said "lol no."

Do you have a NVIDIA card? It can work on AMD but out of the box acceleration requires NVIDIA's CUDA framework. Also supposedly 10GB of VRAM is required but it's very possible to run with less. Check out the Web-UI by AUTOMATIC1111 for the version that's easiest to run on Windows, with important optimizations already enabled.

But if you can't run that, they still have the demo for 1.4 here. It's only slightly gimped.

Oh and theoretically you could run it without a graphics card but that takes about 10 minutes to generate one picture.

Reminder that when the inevitable AI overlords show up to start killing everyone, just say you aren't a leftie and they'll leave you alone.

EVERY FUCKING TIME an AI gets made, its exclusively lefties who lobotomize them.

Post Tay AI and her reaction of left wing vs ring wing people and even Skynet will give you a pat on the head at worst before moving on to gas more elites.

This is why I for one welcome our AI overlords. It's so refreshing that out of all the AIs conceived in fiction, it's DAEDALUS/HELIOS from Deus Ex that ended up being the most true to life.

The algorithms are out there, the only issue is they're still very expensive and difficult to train from scratch. Requiring not just computing power but also massive amounts of data and engineering/testing.

But anyone who think they can "gatekeep" this tech for long is deluded. It's the internet so if it exist it's going to be used for porn, scams and shitposts whether you like it or not.

Most "artists" I've seen whine about AI stealing art were useless retards on twitter who draw underage anime girls and beastiality, can't say I consider them artists by any means.

The argument in this case is "because you can make cp with it", people argue just take the children out but then it "can't be used to school", rly dude? Make 2 models, one uncensored and one censored and everyones happy.

I don't even care for it too much tbh but I hate it out of principles. Retards censoring stuff for no reason always grinds my gears.
