I disagree with you on Task Scheduler pretty emphatically if for no other reason than Windows a whole host of other software make use of it to take care of regular maintenance, updates and security. Just because the end user never schedules a task doesn't mean you can disable Task Scheduler without dire consequences for the system.

Let me get this straight.

You want end users who are too stupid to use Task Scheduler to deploy their own updates manually, just so you can disable Task Scheduler?

I'm not arguing against your point because it's a sound concept. Minute energy savings by disabling unneeded processes multiplied across millions of computers yields significant energy savings. That's a sensible take if we leave aside the discussion of enforcing such a configuration.

I'm arguing with you because Task Scheduler runs a bunch of shit for a bunch of different software most of which you aren't even aware of as an end user. Just because you can't access it as an end user doesn't mean it went away. It's still there firing a whole bunch of system processes in the background.
