Presumably in the coming years they'll transition over to a 'subscription model' too. Definitely my favourite aspect of all my modern software is that I apparently don't own said software.
Holy shit they're burning processing power on making it worse. I can't think of a more irresponsible use of resources.
I disagree with you on Task Scheduler pretty emphatically if for no other reason than Windows a whole host of other software make use of it to take care of regular maintenance, updates and security. Just because the end user never schedules a task doesn't mean you can disable Task Scheduler without dire consequences for the system.
