There was that one dude on TikTok, I forget his name but he was some soyboy talking about how the Bible is actually "progressive" and "pro LGBT", then in a later interview he said he doesn't believe in god and the afterlife much like how SJWs hate the source material of whatever franchise theyre ruining.
I remember an atheist asked people like that why they don’t just do their own thing because even as an atheist the Bible is very clear on certain things so why demand that it adjust to you? But that is what we see in entertainment with the whole “updated for modern audiences”.
Exactly, reminds me of an argument I had years ago with a leftist about the whole "Jesus was a communist" bs talking point, and I asked wouldn't it have made more sense for communist regimes to adopt Christianity as the state religion rather than doing their best to suppress and oppose it?
Exactly. And I hate the whole Jesus was a socialist argument. Jesus voluntarily helped others and commanded us to do so. God loves a cheerful giver because we should be helping others out of love and not via taxation or force
The baffling this is that, for all the movies they made, most had books that were way better.
Han Solo comes to mind. Crispin explained everything about his character, as defined by the orijtrij, as well as incorporating the later books. It even gives context to the Vader line in Empire where he tells Boba Fett, specifically, not to disintigrate Solo. Even though Fett is the most professional hunter, he has past encounters with Solo that created bad blood.
It makes it so much worse to see the garbage they put out knowing there was a story all ready to go that they conpletely ignored.
There was a feud between Han and Fett? I recall the thing with Dengar (His body looks wrecked because of a crash in a race caused by Han playing dirty), but nothing with Fett.
Which is why at the time I was surprised they didn’t just keep making stories in that universe while doing their own stuff. It was an insult for the fans who kept it going. I hear they are going to do Heir to the Empire. So a bastardized version with Disney characters
This is the correct way. Need to start a "Jedi Council" of fans who reject the Disney crap and offer some unofficial-official seal of approval for canonicity on StarWars EU FanFics.
Doomcock has been pretty vocal about fans deciding what is canon, especially regarding "Disney Star Wars". I'm not saying he would be good at leading such a movement - Doomcock stands for Doomcock. But at least ideologically he's with us.
Do you know of an EU only group? I was in some groups on FB and Reddit but so many start getting into Disney crap. Jedi zpraxeum is one that’s is strictly no Disney
agreed the corperations seem to forget its not them who in the end dictate canon its the fans they can try to say something is cannon but if the fanbase rejects it the corperation has little option but to try to force it causing further ill will.
No arguments from me. I gave Disney a chance and eventually I cancelled Disney plus and only stick with pre Disney content. Currently rereading the thrawn trilogy and recently bought Darth Bane and Plagious along with some NJO and Crucible. Plus I got a lot more EU waiting to be read along with comic books.
It’s absurd that Disney didn’t just hire writers to continue EU stories in that universe. Now they rip off ideas (Kylo Ren anyon?). They were stupid to slap the EU fans in the face like that and I remember the shill media coming out in full force saying the EU was never that good. They kept Star Wars going during the stretches with no movies.
I remember a Disney Star Wars fan told me I was sexist once and I said I’m so sexist I would’ve loved a Jaina Solo led trilogy. They didn’t know who she was. Also Disney getting rid of Luke’s Jedi academy was beyond stupid
Anyone else grow up watching the Star Wars cartoons and was constantly getting reminded of the dumpy little space pirate in black armor named Kybo Ren?
What about Fate of the Jedi or Legacy of the Force? I recently started buying Star Trek EU books. Not a fan of Nu Trek either. Also picked up some comic books from prequel era and prior.
I thought the Vong were an interesting villain but definitely a change of pace.
As for not knowing who Jaina was, the person claimed to be a life long Star Wars fan but said TLJ is the best one so his opinion is pretty suspect
I don't count the Disney shit as canon, I still love me my Darth Bane trilogy too much, I love KOTOR. They can scream, they can yell but I just won't acknowledge the Disney trilogy as anything other than shitty fanfiction.
It's definitely an area of IP law that needs to be addressed yesterday. It shouldn't be possible for corporate entities to "buy" cultural output and completely control it in this way. I'd like to see IP protection laws dramatically scaled back for corporations, slashed in half or a quarter unless the corporation is owned/operated by the inventor of the IP.
I rewatched the OG trilogy on VHS a few years ago, and I was amazed how distant it felt to Disney's Star Wars, it was so easy pretending it didn't exist like the bad fan fiction it is.
Exactly. When I was still on Star Wars Reddit before it went down the disney shill path I’d have people throw out “it’s not canon”. I just say it’s my canon. Jedi Praxeum is the only EU only subreddit I found. Even the Star Wars EU subreddit talks about Disney stuff
Funny you should use that example, as they're in the process of trying to do that already. Agree with your general sentiment.
Yep some “progressive” churches talk about deconstructing the Bible

Yup thats the guy, the sad part is even mainstream televangelist types were calling him out

Exactly, there is a difference between voluntary charity and being part of a forced collective where how much you share is decided for you.
I think my pastor might have a seizure on the spot if he heard any other "preacher" seriously claim to be trying that.
Same with mine

Yes! The Crispin Solo trilogy was great! I liked the older one as well.
There was a feud between Han and Fett? I recall the thing with Dengar (His body looks wrecked because of a crash in a race caused by Han playing dirty), but nothing with Fett.
Star wars is dead. The expanded universe was the only thing that kept it alive. But it's dead now.
Which is why at the time I was surprised they didn’t just keep making stories in that universe while doing their own stuff. It was an insult for the fans who kept it going. I hear they are going to do Heir to the Empire. So a bastardized version with Disney characters
With AI generated art, this will become much better. Soon.
Yes! I’ve seen this. Great job considering his resources

Matt Wilkins has a good channel. Ryan Kinel of Geeks and Gamers is an EU expert.

We need a new word to describe corporate vandalism of established IP. Because it sure as shit ain’t “fan” fiction.

IPirates

Had its weak points but I like it better overall then what Disney has done
Exactly. When I was still on Star Wars Reddit before it went down the disney shill path I’d have people throw out “it’s not canon”. I just say it’s my canon. Jedi Praxeum is the only EU only subreddit I found. Even the Star Wars EU subreddit talks about Disney stuff
The yuuzhan vong will always be trash.
They can't take this away my friend. Download a copy if you have not already done so. https://youtu.be/PN_CP4SuoTU
Disney is pedo, StarsWar is Disney now, ergo StarChunks is pedo now.
Act accordingly. (An it please ye: ... there is only one Matrix movie ... )
