I don't count the Disney shit as canon, I still love me my Darth Bane trilogy too much, I love KOTOR. They can scream, they can yell but I just won't acknowledge the Disney trilogy as anything other than shitty fanfiction.
It's definitely an area of IP law that needs to be addressed yesterday. It shouldn't be possible for corporate entities to "buy" cultural output and completely control it in this way. I'd like to see IP protection laws dramatically scaled back for corporations, slashed in half or a quarter unless the corporation is owned/operated by the inventor of the IP.
