What about Fate of the Jedi or Legacy of the Force? I recently started buying Star Trek EU books. Not a fan of Nu Trek either. Also picked up some comic books from prequel era and prior.

I thought the Vong were an interesting villain but definitely a change of pace.

As for not knowing who Jaina was, the person claimed to be a life long Star Wars fan but said TLJ is the best one so his opinion is pretty suspect
