Why should anyone believe you'll ever have a legitimate election ever again?
Here's the Zuck, on video, telling you that a government agency instructed them to massively, illegitimately influence the election.
The next republican president would be fully justified in purging the organization. ...So why the hell would they ever allow another Republican ever again, unless he's been vetted as a puppet?
It's over. It's DONE. The USA you knew is fucking GONE. There's no way to ever have confidence in the legitimacy of its democracy again.
At this point, it seems as if the US government does not want to be legitimate. It'd prefer by far to be predictable - and those pesky voters keep on choosing the wrong candidate for that!
This all seems to feed into this "managed decline" mantra that's completely captured my government and yours, convincing the both of them that the government's role is to quietly and efficiency put our nations out of business for the benefit of every other human on the planet, our own wishes be damned.
Who cares about being legitimate? People are glued to their TV to watch the big game and chomp down on Doritos with cholesterol and hypertension med chasers. Will other countries stop trading with the US, or refuse to recognize the government, or treat them like they deserve? No.
The theft happened in front of everyone's eyes. The people who are honored with special holidays, honors, perks, connections, even sacred graves for joining a volunteer military, whose job it is to stop exactly this, shrugged and did nothing: "It's just a job." And anyone who even dared to march against it is now in solitary confinement in cells with toilets backing up raw sewage and black mold covering the walls.
And without that critical mass of people willing to do something, the number of people to shift such operations from suicide missions to something with an actual chance of success, it will never get solved.
Him donning the little hat and visiting the wailing wall first thing when he becomes POTUS... Pardoning Israeli spies right before he leaves... Refusing to help 1/6 detainees AT ALL... Surrounding himself with swamp creatures and not only not draining the swamp, but increasing it while in office...
Despite all that, you think him winning in 2024 will turn things around?
I have some beach front property in Montana I'm selling. It's a great deal. I'm sure somebody as gullible as you would be interested.
Why on earth would you think that Trump is capable of changing Washington or even wants to? He had four years and failed. Either he tried and was stymied, or he didn't actually bother to do so. My best guess is a bit of both.
Remember that Trump was president when the FBI told Facebook to suppress the laptop story.
Yeah because the 3 letter agencies give zero shits. They were openly in revolt his entire presidency. Whoever becomes president needs to go scorched earth on them and anyone that complains about it
Because you only get to do it once. The nukes have already been fired. The sneak attack has already happened. You dont get to do it again, and the enemy now knows what you are going to do. Now, the Dems have been on the backfoot for almost every election done since 2020, and they have been losing by margins taht were considered unlikely at best even just a few years ago. To save their political power now, they screwed themselves in the future.
Its not the first time its ever happened in US History. Andrew Jackson was screwed out of the presidency in 1828 by John Quincy Adams. He won far more states and a large chunk of the electorate, but political machinations in Congress used loopholes to crown Adams the winner. Instead of this being some smooth thing and Jackson slinking away, he came out roaring mad. And come the 1830 Midterm, he ended up clearing out Congress of everyone who had screwed him and winning many other areas thought impossible. Then come 1832, he beat Adams in a crushing victory.
There is nothing to say it can happen again. Especially when the off-elections have been favoring MAGA Republicans by an almost absurd degree. And every attempt of the FBI and other types to stop it just makes the fire grow.
"Algorithmically censored"... So... There's no magical black-box algorithm, it's easily viewable and adjustable, making Facebook not a platform but a publisher?
I did a job interview with them for a data science role and one of the questions was about a leader wanting to derank sharing articles because they felt it lowered engagement. (Versus posting original content) The question was how would you verify that claim, and after implementation test that the change was effective at increasing engagement. They definitely do this shit routinely. My response was to ask if engagement was inherently good and to question the premise of the original request. Needless to say I did not get the job!
There are pathological organizations, just as there are pathological people. In general, the purpose of a business is to generate a return on investment for its stakeholders.
Facebook, et. al. (Google, Twitter) aren't playing just for money. You're right, they have some ideological axe to grind and are playing a political power game.
I have said this before to smoothbrains who like to parrot, "its a private company they can do what they want". Google, or Facebook, censoring on behalf of the CCP isn't effectively any different than direct censorship by the CCP. Its just censorship by proxy from the CCP. The same goes if its private company censorship at the behest of the US government.
You're absolutely correct, I couldn't have worked there anyway, I hate their business model. I was just interviewing for practice or a possible counter offer from my then-employer. They headhunted me so might as well try it out. They've since come back to me a couple more times for other roles but I just tell them not interested in Meta now.
That "the algorithm" does anything has always been a red herring. Humans design the algorithm. Humans code the algorithm into something that computes what it's been asked to compute.

Short of Trump winning 2024 and going total scorched earth, I think we’re done. Dissolution of the union is inevitable.
Desirable, even.
I don't think it's desirable. Maybe the best of a bad set of options, but not desirable.
I would be insanely impressed if Trump actually managed to clear out the swamp. He promised last time he'd do it, but he didn't.

Good thing we get to vote for Trump in 2 weeks, guys! Did you hear that? Just two more weeks.....

Engagement for their platform means more eyeballs on ads. Eyeballs on ads means more money. The goal of every business is to make money.
The answer they were probably looking for was something like: "I would publish under a feature flag so that I could test on A/B populations."
I no longer accept this premise as a given.
We are dealing with religious zealots.

Social media are publishers.
FBI are traitors.
Water is wet.
Proof that we are in late Western Roman Empire stage.
The praetorian guard is now deciding who will be emperor.
Weren't we just a republic not long ago? Damn that was fast. What comes next?
FBI restricting misinformation sounds kind of funny
oh. The Algorithm did it. Not an actual person, maybe? Maybe? Who made the actual decision? Who exercised his will on the world?
Blame the CEO. Always blame the CEO, or whoever is pulling the strings.
Maybe if every time Disney did something shitty people were naming Bob Chapek instead of his company he’d think twice.
Blatant first amendment violation by the FBI. FBI IS ASSHOE.
wtf is wrong with this video? It won't play here or on Twitter.
Is my GPU dying? Wtf. It can kind of decode the video, but then it just stops.
2024: FBI demands facebook censor all facts harmful to their DNC masters
That was actually 2016, if not sooner...
