He claims that he missed work due to the abuse of his children, that he told them that this was the case, but that he was told that if he missed work, he would be fired. Hence "using this as an excuse to end his career".

But, knowing Kuchera's history, I'm going to assume that everything he says is DARVO. I'm going to assume that he's the abuser, his wife was his victim, and he lost his kids, house, and furniture because he deserved it.
He has since deleted these tweets, and some tweets in which he said things like "it's OK, I'm probably lying" or "it's just a personal crisis" - which seemed to be sarcastic.
He seems to be complaining that Vox/Polygon wouldn't let him take time off work to protect his daughter, or even to get vaccinated (hilarious, considering their publicly espoused politics).
However, 'they covered up the abuse of my children to make money' makes it sound like the child abuser is someone noteworthy, and this is more than simply him not being given time off work.
Ben Kuchera outstayed his usefulness or someone unhinged want his seat.
They hire some thugs to torment his kid and force his attention away from work.
Then he gets sacked for ignoring his work obligations.
He apparently asked for time off to deal with someone abusing his kids, and they said "lol, no" then fired him when he didn't show up because he was dealing with his kids.
Which, if true, is going to play really poorly in front of a jury if he sues.
Ok so the main takeaway is Kuchera isn't the one abusing kids but someone was abusing them? And because he asked for time off to deal with the situation, told no and would be fired if he did, he did it anyway so got fired
As much of a dick Ben is if that's all true he ain't in the wrong in this situation, and a jury would side with him in a civil case.
