The issue isn't just her age, it's the bias of the primary source, the lack of other sources or any corroborating evidence, and the zero actual digging surrounding it. This is an incredibly convenient story that everyone is running with, and they won't look into because it's more useful to assume it's true than uncover that it isn't.
