For Lent, it is our prayer that in our spiritual disciplines we may grow as Christians, united in the body of Christ with people of all ages, nations, races, and origins.
So White people aren't included in "all ages, nations, races, and origins?"
White people are the source of knowledge, food, pain, oppression, anger, housing, the climate, science, math, language, money, and everything besides day to day interactions to some people. In short, White people are the old gods, whose incomprehensible (to short term based thinking) actions bring joy or misery.
I was watching an episode of some David Chang show years ago. The point of the episode was supposed to be that white people are constantly "appropriating" southern cooking from blacks. They had a panel of sorts in New Orleans and these people basically laid out how black people learned to fry chicken from working in white people's kitchens. No one on the show seemed to realize it completely undermined their point but it always stuck with me.
Not sure. I wouldn't be surprised. If you really wanted to drill down you could talk about the origins of the guitar and piano. The thing that sucks about current year is it never used to matter who invented or discovered what, people would share things with one another and change/improve them. It wasn't until certain people started convincing every non white person that any problem in their existence is the fault of white people. Now you have bald white women in portland shrieking at other white women for the grievous sin of selling tacos out of a truck. If you really want to have a ball, look at youtube or insta videos about "birria." You have people who are so insecure about their existence they gatekeep goatmeat and lard.
You're supposed to deprive yourself of something you like or otherwise overindulge in for Lent, not of something you hate and want erased from the Earth.
Though OF COURSE, they're not going to stop indulging in other white (and Asian, who are classified as white when it's convenient for them) inventions like electricity, clothes, indoor plumbing, toilets, internet, books, architecture...
I had a look at the church's website. Looks like they're some merged variant of Presbyterian and Congregational. Not surprised that they're also some sort of woke. I'd bet they probably were all about supporting BLM back during the "peaceful protests", too. If I were a white person that was going there, I'd be fasting by ditching that church and finding a new one - but then again any white person going there is probably also woke and bending the knee to the almighty sacrament of wokeness and the original sin of being born into "white privilege".
In a very real way, modern life was invented by whites. That doesn't mean others have not contributed in meaningful ways, but if you're applying a "one drop" rule, there's a lot of drops.
Ancient cultures of the east, of the north, of the south... They all copied (or were made to copy, in one or two cases) the west to significant extents.
Building designs, styles, methods, technologies. Product creation and delivery flow. Global markets. Entertainment? Movies are in western styles. Black-idolized comics published by white-founded companies. Even anime, something so associated with the orient rather than the occident, is verifiably based on Walt Disney's older works.
From the church building itself to Wakanda to "Akuyaku Reijou wa Danna-sama wo Yasesasetai", it's all been touched by the wild white west. The level of cultural impact is insane when you really think about it.
