LA Times: With Texas' Abortion Ban, who are we (Americans) to judge the Taliban? (archive.is)

Many people are ignorant of the late communist Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu. He outlawed all access to abortion and contraception, which resulted in orphanages filled with unwanted, neglected children. Many women died of unsafe procedures, and sexuality became something to fear, not be enjoyed. Is this what Texas wants?

In particular the bold part, yes. Not necessarily something to fear but I'm as sick of the obsession with "sexuality" as I am masks and vaccines. Just because someone as nuts as Ceausescu did something, doesn't mean it was wrong. I could probably find policies I agree with among almost any dictator in modern history.

Thousands of these children also got AIDS. Because the babies were being given blood transfusions. Because Romania, vampires and all.

More than half of all the AIDS children in all of Europe, in fact: https://hivoutcomes.eu/case_study/romania-ceausescus-children/

I couldn't tell from that article, they were just giving them transfusions for the hell of it? Or because they were nuts and thought the kids were vampires?

This was an "old-fashioned treatment" for weak little children. Who were often weak because there simply was no food.

But as of vampires go:

Rumors circulated that Ceausescu, who needed blood transfusions, would take boys from villages, drink their blood and have them killed.

You're missing something: people leaving Texas because it's "too conservative". And how many leftists who were thinking about moving to Texas just decided not to?

If it was self-solving, you'd think it'd have solved itself over the last ~50 years rather than getting worse

The most major shift in politics has been the capture of average whites into self-destructive liberal ideologies.

The second major shift is immigration.

Were conservatives not to cuck out and instead exert their strength over these years neither issue would exist. Instead, the average boomercon to this day still supports the same grifters that stole everything from him. I'd say it's sad and pathetic, but I think we're far beyond pity.

Childlessness gives the satanists the time and resources necessary to wage an ideological war and capture children. Academia will have to be destroyed before the situation can be resolved. These ungrounded people have always been historically useful to the ruling regime as exmplified by the monastic crusading orders, janissaries, and Theodora's eunuchs.

The true proponents, the ones who have the power to give funding, make laws, etc, aren't using it. The ones who are, are the useful idiots. But they still reproduce. They're the childless women running gender studies courses in public schools.

Also the most frequent users aren't politically involved. Majority of inner city blacks don't vote, don't run for offices. But when they do vote, it's for gibs and the party providing gibs also supports ritual child murder. I also think the threat of black population increasing with outlawed abortion is overstated. These women get at least double-digit numbers of fetuses yeeted, much harder to do that when the womb is occupied for 9 months

I think, but don't have data to support this assertion, that the high rates of black abortion are due to their women having so many each. If you assume 2 months before each baby is killed, and a buffer of a month to get back on the cycle, Shaniqua can have 3 abortions in the time it takes to have a child.

It's not self solving, it serves as a creeping corruption upon females as a whole. One of many, sadly.

The fact that child murder is legal serves to potentially corrupt all women of the nation. Those who resist and maintain sound morals are to praised.

As I understand it, it's emblematic of the accommodations made between the very traditional christians in the US and the far more liberal populace. The previous agreement was the compromise position, but now that the heavily-Democrat areas have decided that they don't need to honour agreements with gasp conservatives those self-same conservatives don't apparently feel the need to moderate their own views to play nice with the "liberals".

I note that this was initially published as an "opinion" column, and then the byline was changed to "Letters to the Editor"...

Also, I have a paid subscription to these utter cunts. I needed it for Uni (yes, yes, I know)...

Obviously, I've planned on cancelling that for quite some time, but now... I think I might do it tomorrow, because, out of all of it, I think this just might be the final straw, for me personally...

Fuck journalists. Fuck "editors". Fuck them all. Ship them out to Kabul, and then see how they fucking fare, and what "opinion" they hold on the Taliban after that...

Unpopular opinion but men should have zero say on the abortion debate. I first got pregnant at 38 and I am a staunch antinatalist. Being pregnant was horrendous and I only had to endure for 6 weeks, 5 days. I don't wish pregnancy on my worst enemy.

The main response I have to the "men should have no say" is if that's the case then men should also be able to abort any responsibility for the child during the same period. No questions asked and no loopholes. Fill out a form and file it somewhere that the man aborts the kid and it no longer exists to them in any way.

I think any sort of abortion is a super scummy way to deal with it, but if we're going to talk down the road of men should have zero say then it has to be two sided.

Yeah, surprisingly, I think i agree with you, there...

Especially having had a girlfriend, when I was quite young, who insisted that if, by chance, she got pregnant, she would be carrying the child to term, and I would be equally responsible for it, for life...

I've had those conversations. I now know better, and have pretty much come to the same conclusion as what you outlined, there...

But I also think the "Don't have kids, the world is fucked/dying" argument is fundamentally, uhh, insane, so... There's that, too.

While I think abortion is scummy and wrong, I'm also not of the stance that government should only be built around my beliefs. I'd accept a compromise that included abortion to be allowed early term, which is what the Texas law is, it's not a ban. Compromise is give and take, if I'm to give them a few weeks of abortion, I need something in return. Granted the bad part is the abortionists are in a position of strength in that in most places it's already allowed, so there's that to deal with too.

Not that a compromise has ever been offered. I don't really trust that to end the discussion either. They'd take the compromise then still want the rest.

Completely agree. Onus falls on women. As long as there's a safe, affordable means to get an abortion then the man should absolutely have the option to abort all responsibility.

– cccpneveragain 4 points 4 years ago +4 / -0

Not that I've used that argument a ton, but I have before. This is the first positive response I've seen from an abortionist. The typical response is something starting with "You men..." and ending with something feminist or about men taking responsibility.

I find that difficult to believe due to how self-evident it seems but if that's your experience...

After my abortion I immediately had both tubes entirely removed. Wish I'd done that when I first started fucking at 19. Battling my fertility all these years has been a bizz-snatch 😊

Enjoy your lonely and bitter end of life as it is our relationships that define our humanity. Childlessness and birth control, such as silphium, is the mark of a civilization that has lost its animating spirit and embraced raw hedonism that ultimately leaves people empty inside and collapses society. It happened in Baghdad, Rome, and Greece.

In our own time the whole of Greece has been subjected to a low birth rate and a general decrease of the population, owing to which cities have become deserted and the land has ceased to yield fruit, although there has been neither continuous wars or epidemics... For as men had fallen into such a state of prententiousness, avarice, and indolence that they did not wish to marry, or if they married to rear the children born to them, or at most as a rule but one or two of them, so as to leave these in affluence and bring them up to waste their substance, the evil rapidly and insensibly grew.

I'd say this person's beliefs are even more responsible for those things than the average Western woman, by the sounds of it...

So you're even more on the money than usual, here.

I literally can't even come at this person's perspective, it's so alien to my own, so... I'm looking forward to seeing more people call her out on her shit, to be honest!

this law still gives them 6 weeks to abort

They totally forget that part in all these articles. It's not even a ban.

It seems they want the total opposite where you'd end up with the typical TV show pregnancy scene turned into "Honey, the baby is coming! Quick, let's drive to Planned Parenthood and get rid of it!" At least that's what I take from the laws I see them applaud.

Abortion was only ever made legal because the decision came down before widespread use of ultrasound imaging. Anyone who has actually seen a second trimester abortion and still supports the practice is a monster. Abortion doctors, who see that shit everyday and continue the practice, are the closest thing we have to demons.

You can win any abortion debate by simply pulling up a video of an abortion. The entire institution of abortion relies on people completely ignoring what it actually is.

If men had a birth control option like the pill, I for one would be okay handing abortion over. If you want to control what happens to the bucket of water, I want to be able to turn on and off the tap as I please.

If abstinence or prophylactics aren't a reasonable option for you, then I don't see why those should be my only options

China supposedly came up with a birth control for men that works but involves injecting you with some metal or something and they use magnets to get it down to your balls but it only lasts a couple days and it shrinks your balls temporarily

Also, since some people here (and elsewhere, including my own family) seem to be under the impression that Afghanistan has always been a pre-modern shithole, here you go: https://allthatsinteresting.com/1960s-afghanistan

It's exactly the same for Iran. And hell, Transjordan (modern Saudi Arabia), to some extent, before the fucking Al-Saud family took it over... Take the Islamism, and the geopolitics (Britain, USSR, AND the US, also increasingly China and India) out of these places, and you would have had a modern, functional country, if not necessarily a Western-style "democracy"...

See also Egypt, Turkey, Algeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Lebanon and fucking Indonesia. I am not kidding when I say that all these places have gone massively backwards since the 1970s, and that is absolutely not a coincidence...
