Bullshit. They're addicted to outrage. You don't praise a crackhead because they only had weed when you were a kid.

Well it's not like people like that are likely to breed. Their pass the ideology along by co-opting your children because they don't generally have any of their own.

I suspect this is what helps them to view them as merely objects, tools to be shaped, rather than what is a person and will some day be an adult.

Unhappy people seek out others to make unhappy. There’s a reason Democrats are the party of the mentally unhinged, these people are outraged because they have no self worth. They need to be handed aspirations, told how to feel, and wonder why at the end of the day they still feel angry and embittered.

They're addicted to outrage.

We're not so far removed from them in this regard.

You’re not wrong but I think the difference is that our biases haven’t been integrated in to like all popular culture. We don’t have an escape that doesn’t intersect with outrage like KIA or whatever else.

They're addicted to outrage

Maybe. They might be addicted to how tribal it all ends up along with the social clout that comes with being part of the mob. Outrage/cancel culture just provides the vehicle up until the point they are the ones thrown under the wheels.

Bullshit. Maybe 90s kids had it great, but no one hid the horrors of thermonuclear war from kids during the Cold War. In fact, when Ronald Rayguns (and we called him that even before SDI "Star Wars" because of his cowboy rep) came in, they doubled down on the "look at what nukes did to the Japanese" stuff (Three Mile Island didn't help).

ESPECIALLY if you grew up in a prime target area (Windsor-Detroit used to be manufacturing powerhouses. Chrysler Canada's main plant converted itself from civilian cars to military vehicles (tanks, etc) at the start of WW2 in 24 hrs. Yes, the area had a shit-ton of nukes aimed at it. And our teachers made sure we knew it.

Born in 85, my mother made me very aware of issues like the cold war (the first time I got to stay up late was seeing the wall come down, though I only had a very vague idea of the significance) desert storm and the Yugoslavian war. I can't remember any attempt at teachers to engage students in the goings-on of world events like that until 9/11 and students not only didn't care, but scoffed at it. Dollars to doughnuts this 'outrage' is the chickens coming home to roost on that same willful ignorance.

In fact, that was pointed out as the difference between the A-bomb and the H-bomb. And then there was the neutron bomb ...

You kids today are bombarded with cold reality consistently

Yeah because seeing your friend blown into 1,000 pieces right next to you as a 17-year-old in 1944 is NOTHING compared to the "cold reality" of reading international news about how horrible a 99% survival-rate disease is from the safety of your home with every comfort, technology, and freedom imaginable.

Even Boomers and Gen X had it harder because they were generally poorer and less privileged than Zoomers and Millennials. Did stuff cost less? Sure, but they actually had to act like adults instead of being in a constant state of coddled childhood. Even the poorest Zoomer kid generally has an internet-connected device and entertainment, shelter, etc.

This message would be appropriate if it were directed at those youths who consume alternative media, but it's not. It's directed at the youths who consume the same old curated media lies propagated by the same old people who controlled mass media back in the "dark ages" of the pre-internet. The youths who are constantly mad and agitating for revolution are the same useful idiots who existed in the 60s, hanging on every word of their Marxist professors and jerking it to the same activist journalism. This Reddit post is just an old-guard radical leftist fellating the new guard for behaving the same way - like gullible, credulous retards.

For non-Western scholars, Dutch universities are hostile environments

An unfriendly and isolating ambience that descended into microaggressions and dismissed complaints shattered one academic's high expectations

Out of all the people, I would not expect the Dutch to be the ones to trigger millenials.

I grew up when there was no internet. We didn't even know what other countries looked like except from pictures in books in school and magazines, but we knew those were curated. You kids today are bombarded with cold reality consistently.

Man, I taught kids for a while a few years back (so the ones I taught would be graduating college rn at the latest or in the middle of highschool at the youngest) and they know just as much about the world now as I did a decade ago and as much as a sibling of mine knew when they were in school in the 90s and as much as older relatives of mine did when they were coming of age in the 80s and earlier. Just because they can potentially see and learn about anywhere and anyone in the world today doesn't mean they are. I mean, come on, what's the internet most used for? Porn and entertainment. Hell, what'd people use actually printed stuff for in the 1800 and 1900s? Penny dreadfuls, trashy pulp fiction, erotica, pot-boiler paid-by-the-word novels, godawful "journalism" masquerading as news.

Same shit different decade. The only difference in this regard is you could at least get a break from the torrent of trash back before, hell I'd say even the 2010s. Back, coincidentally enough, before everyone had goddamned smartphones.

Information got everywhere back when he grew up. People were getting outraged when he grew up. He just wasn't too aware of the outrage. Maybe it's because of the internet. Maybe because he didn't care then and wants to care now.

Information technology has changed. The issues have still been the same. People have been getting outraged as long as time.

There's a difference between accepting something and promoting something too.

My grandpa was helping people with their luggage as a kid to have money to buy books because he wanted to go to school, he worked hard and studied hard to get ahead in life and he did ok.
2 of his brothers died in the war and a sister died of tuberculosis.

The problem with the kids today is not to much information but to much information that tells you how to react and a sheltered life so that you have no perspective.

Georgia law is just like Jim-Crow. Black people are killed in the streets Trump wants to become a dictator Working 8 hours a day is slavery Girls in gaming are being abused Religious people are all homophobes and transphobes Diversity is our strength and anyone who opposes it is racist Affirmative action is just leveling the playing filled and anyone who opposes it is racist

This is just a guy with a mid-life crisis, desperately trying to seek approval from younger people by pandering to them. That way he can pretend he's hip and cool instead of being a sad sack with a funko pop collection who hasn't had sex in a decade.

There are many things that we should be outraged about. Namely levels of degeneracy that make Weimar look like Israel under the Pharisees. Our civilization has fallen, and the amount of work it will take to make a new one is simply astounding.
