People are reporting (and I can corroborate it) that videos on YT are no longer loading, although the rest of the site seems to be fine. I think we can expect some fuckery, or at least some more suspicious behavior, in the next 24 hours.

That makes the most sense. I've been in the industry a long time, and huge outages like this are almost always caused by someone with zero attention to detail that doesn't know WTF they are doing engineering things. I work with some of these people and have tried to help them to the point that I had to realize I have my own networks to do and can't save them from their problems. It's really just a matter of time before their stuff all blows up in their face.
The problem is it won't blow up in their face, HR will make sure to find a straight white man (or what ever else is the lowest in the current oppression olympics) to blame.
They done plenty of dumb things over the years, and people still choose to use them as their primary/only site to watch videos. It's just so engrained for most people, including myself even if I have tried to use the alternatives more often these past 4-5 years.
Can't really help themselves when the content they're looking for is simply not available on bitchute etc.
Even when a channel decides to switch platforms, their old library still remains on Youtube unless they decide to reupload hundreds or thousands of videos.
There will be a lot of videos that will never load again.
That's just another day ending in Y in our glorious-tech-overlords' ecosystem.
I tried to watch some MSM videos today (of the Remembrance Day ceremony) and they weren't loading either.
I don't know what's going on, I can't get to some old DS9 clips, so I'm not sure that it's purely political in nature. They could just be retards that keep their site running.

Happened to me a few times today. I wasn’t even trying to watch anything political, it happened on a Simpleflips video.
It's happening to multiple sites right now. People are saying it's a Chinese attack.
Wouldn't that be funny, one of the largest websites in the world still getting fucked by a DDOS.
Even my video recommendations aren't loading in sometimes, either on the videos themselves or on my main page. It's just a blank screen.

My completely unfounded guess of the day is, they tried to prevent youtube-dl from working (the downloader that got hit by takedowns recently) and fucked it up.
That was my thought, too. Or that they’re testing new censorship technology and fucked it up, as happened last year with people having their Google Docs files disappear.
Some other Google things screwed up. I was having trouble downloading an app on my phone as well. Hahaha to them I say. It takes some special screwups to have a global outage on a network that size.
It took me about 20 minutes for a 4k fireplace loop to start. Also about 5 other ones simply failed.
Right on the heels of them breaking it so youtube-dl's channel scraping feature doesn't work. Gee, wonder what they wrenched this time.
