Currently reading The Peripheral and agree that Gibson can be a tough read. I've read most of his stuff but I'm finding this to be very obtuse and annoying.

Indiana farmers from a 12 sibling family all living within 10 miles of each other. I'd spend summers there learning about how easy it is to maul yourself with farm equipment. Most of the men were missing at least a finger, some a hand. That's when I decided to be anything other than a farmer. That's a no shitter.

Edit: grammar.

I had a bunch of relatives that were in the Pacific Theater who were very concerned about surviving the invasion of Japan.

Most everybody is walking around with all the knowledge in the world a few clicks away. Libraries are pretty much obsolete.

The attack on the USS Liberty lasted for two hours, killing 34 sailors and wounding 171. Liberty was repeatedly hit by torpedoes and napalm, and its deck was also strafed by Israel motor torpedo boats as Liberty's crew were doing damage control and trying to lower lifeboats. Most people would not regard people who persistently tried to kill then as an ally. Your experience may vary.

Our government wouldn't ask because it is owned and operated by dual citizens whose first loyalty is not to the united states. Remember the USS Liberty? Ask those sailors what a wonderful ally Israel is.

Safe and effective. Gender affirming care. We're from the government and we're here to help. Everything means exactly the opposite of what the words actually mean. Destroying the language and logic seems to be the goal. Try running your infrastructure with morons.

When I got out of the Navy I took the first job I was offered even though I was vastly overqualified for the position. I needed the money. It was a union shop and I was informed that I would have to work for a year at the boring job to get a job that I was qualified for. Gave my two weeks notice on that first day and started looking for a better job. Had found a better job while I was still working off the two weeks.

The problem with PKD is that he wrote 4D plots populated by 1D characters. In his final four novels, VALIS, Radio Free Albemuth, The Divine Invasion and The Transmigration of Timothy Archer escape that limitation.

Typical failure I have experienced is that the heater burns out. I'm in FL so I have lived with this for almost a year and not felt compelled to replace it.

In his exegesis he finally learns to flesh out characters. This was his only real flaw as a writer, 3D plots with 1D characters.

Anyone who cleans their own toilet should have a bidet. The heated seat is the bee's knees and makes it attractive to squat to pee.

There was an Engineering Disasters show on Discovery covering this. They made absolutely no mention of its feminist design. It was quite amusing.
