According to the report, the sale announcement was a subtle but unmistakable one. Iger made the announcement during his disastrous CNBC interview last week, where he was caught lying with the false claim that Disney is not sexualizing children.
By declaring its cable and broadcast TV assets “noncore,” the report says, Iger told the world ABC TV, the FX cable networks, National Geographic, and Freeform are all for sale. He’s also looking for a partner for the failing ESPN.
Bloomberg does the math. “Disney’s media networks generated 35%, or $24.8 billion, of company revenue and more than 50%, or $7.5 billion, of its operating income.” Yep, that’s a big sell-off.
I noticed something about what they are selling off and apparently so did someone else...
Note the properties he’s considering selling are, mostly, companies that were purchased by Disney before Iger. FX and FXX were acquired by Iger when he bought Fox’s entertainment divisions. But neither of those, I think, has ever been sold as standalone units and so do not have any valuations attached to them.
… Iger does not want to sell off the big properties he bought — LucasFilm, Marvel, Pixar, and even Fox, as a whole — because the selling price will be much, much lower than the purchase price. This would expose him as rube who consistently overpaid for other people’ successful studios to cover-up Disney’s own struggling creative output. And it would also confirm everyone’s strong suspicion that all of these properties are worth only 25-50% of what was paid for them, and therefore maybe all of Disney is similarly only worth 25-50% of the current market valuation.
Amusing that he's selling off property simply because he wasn't involved in the purchase, probably not the most intelligent way to handle things...
When I saw this happen I actually expected her to be punished, since the 'movement' needs martyrs.
Ever hear the phrase 'whipping boy' used before? There is a reason why these people exist, they purposefully push beyond the line and take minor punishments to "show" the supporters that they can do basically whatever they like and only receive a slap on the wrist.
You need people like this in a 'movement' to instill confidence and fearlessness, they also get brought up as an 'example' to show that they police their own.
It's all just part of the same play we've been watching for decades.
According to the Department of Corrections, in 2019 Calhoun was charged with three counts of unauthorized use of a vehicle, one count of assaulting a public safety officer and one count of first-degree burglary.
However, in 2021, then-governor Kate Brown signed a commutation order providing clemency to certain prisoners who met the criteria. Calhoun was one of those prisoners and was released on Jul 22, 2021.
Calhoun had been serving a prison sentence after taking a series of sweetheart plea deals in 2019. He was originally charged with several counts of burglary, identity theft, assaulting a public safety officer, resisting arrest, possession of meth, assaulting a law enforcement animal, aggravated theft, criminal mischief, theft, unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, possession of stolen vehicle, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. These charges were spread over three separate cases from 2018 into 2019.
He plead guilty to only a few of the charges and Multhomah County District Attorneys dismissed the rest.
Online sleuths ran with that information, raising questions about whether the six deaths were linked. On June 4, the Portland Police Bureau issued a statement in response to widespread speculation, saying, “PPB has no reason to believe these 6 cases are connected.” It is unclear whether the Police Bureau was deliberately withholding information or if new information has emerged since then.
I wonder if Kate Brown can be charged with six counts of involuntary manslaughter for releasing him early? Perhaps in a just world.
They are literally untouchable unfortunately, because if Fauci goes down he isn't just going to lose all his credibility and 'status' for the sake of everyone else.
They will fight tooth and nail to protect him from any consequences because if he goes down they do too. Expect absolutely nothing in terms of punishment.
This is sounding more and more to me like they are going to beg for federal money and get it.
“All you rednecks or a–holes who don’t want to drink Bud Light — f–k y’all,” the TNT commentator said at a bar in Lake Tahoe, California, where he appeared in a celebrity golf tournament, according to the New York Post.
He also dared critics, saying, “Hey, y’all can’t cancel me.”
“I ain’t worried about getting canceled,” he added.
No shit sherlock, the people doing the cancelling agree with you, you dense fucking cake.
“If y’all fire me and give me all that money, I’m going to be playing golf every fucking day,” he said.
Isn't that what he does now? And why would he be fired for saying exactly what his employers demand him to say?
In a video that is now viral, he added, “I want y’all to drink this f–king beer,” he said while holding a beer in his hand.
“I got three cases of Bud Light,” Barkley bellowed. “If you’re gay, bless you. If you’re trans, bless you. If you have a problem with that, f–k you!”
Did this retard invest heavily in InBev or are his tastes so low that he actually drinks Bud Light as a rich guy?
California Democrats spent the final few days before summer recess in an unusual spot: embroiled in a legislative fight with Republicans, who typically operate in the shadow of the state’s blue supermajority.
Imagine opening with that statement and not seeing any issue with it...
I believe that is just domestic too, it hasn't been released internationally yet.
Most people are pulling their conferences from Portland, we've lost a ton of trade shows and events over the past few years.
The rich areas are the suburbs. Nothing left inside the city.
They pop off a ton of rounds and don't hit anybody.
A heavy police presence descended on the street fair quickly, Dublin said, but as of Sunday morning the Portland Police Bureau has released no information about what led to the panic. No spokesperson for the bureau works on Sundays, and no one from the bureau has responded to a request for information on Sunday morning.
I can't get over this part. What the fuck?
Dublin said she spoke with a security guard at the event and learned that a stabbing followed by at least one gunshot sparked the fear and confusion, although she said she did not hear a gunshot. A man with a stab wound snaked through the crowd, fleeing medical attention, she said. Police then cordoned off streets near the fair.
Landsverk and Baker said the commotion happened near the stage closer to 8:05 p.m., not 7:45 p.m. Two other people near the street fair who did not want their names published separately said they heard at least 10 gunshots around 8:15 p.m., and it wasn’t clear if those were connected to the earlier incident.
Carey Deza, treasurer of the Historic Mississippi Business Association that operates the fair, said Sunday she had no information about the incident.
“The whole rest of the day was great,” Deza said.
So one of the reasons I'm posting this is because I was at this event, it is a popular street fair in one of the few 'safe' areas of the city. The reason this journalist and the police are straight up lying about what happened is because the local journos are trying to pretend lots of violence in 'safer' areas isn't happening.
There was probably 30-40 shots fired and I personally saw two people bleeding from stab wounds. It was something gang related. It is so bizarre to see the police and journalist both minimalize what happened (a STAMPEDE OF PEOPLE fleeing gunfire) and even quote the organizer saying that everything is fine.
Multnomah County Circuit Judge Heidi Moawad said the assailant, Blake D. Hampe, will remain under her supervision for three years and is banned from possessing weapons or participating in unlawful assemblies or riots during that time. He may attend lawful demonstrations.
Hampe, now 46, was caught on video stabbing right-wing activist Andrew Duncomb, 28, outside the graffiti-smeared barricades surrounding the federal courthouse just after 2:30 a.m. on July 25, 2020, according to court documents.
"Right wing activist" = Journalist who was trying to film the riots.
Defense attorney Alicia Hercher said prosecutors struck a plea deal after seeing evidence that Duncomb’s injuries weren’t life-threatening.
That's fucking bizarre.
he said the knife entered his back and narrowly missed his spine.
Hampe pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree assault under the terms of the deal. He was previously convicted of possessing child pornography in federal court in Maine in 2008, according to court papers.
LAST LINE OF THE STORY.
I won't link it but the local Portland subreddit is essentially calling this guy a hero and supporting his actions. It is one of the more disgusting things I've seen in this shithole of a city.
Redoubling financial backing for Ukraine in its war with Russia is the “single best” way to aid the global economy, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said Sunday.
THE SINGLE BEST WAY. From the fucking US TREASURY SECRETARY.
“Ending this war is first and foremost a moral imperative,” she told reporters in Gandhinagar. “But it’s also the single best thing we can do for the global economy.”
MORAL IMPERATIVE. Holy shit, we've officially crossed into 'Crusades' level monarchistic explanations for foreign warfare.
Yellen also pointed to efforts to tackle debt distress faced by struggling economies, bank reform and a global tax deal, and warned it was “premature” to talk of lifting tariffs on China, the AFP report continued.
"Efforts."
Japan’s Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki, speaking after a G7 meeting of ministers, “reconfirmed the G7’s unshakeable support” for Kyiv.
“We confirmed that Russia-owned assets that are under the G7’s supervision would not be transferred until Russia pays damages to Ukraine,” Suzuki said, adding Moscow should also “pay long-term reconstruction costs.”
Japan, you fucked up.
They will get it too up in Portland.
Don't forget that the 'scientific consensus' said the earth was flat, flies spontaneously appeared out of thin air, washing yourself made you more likely to get sick, etc.
The concept that scientists are intelligent or educated has been proven to be fantasy years ago.
Between the two it isn't any surprise they are printing money like crazy.
When there is no oversight who cares?
In the hands of Mr. Carlson, the former Fox News host who was recently fired, Ukraine became the bad actor in the conflict, not Russia.
Quite literally misinformation, he is still under contract by Fox.
Basic, basic information being purposefully lied about is a bad sign that you are a shitty fucking journalist.
Biden has been refusing to visit him so I'm thinking the 3 letter agencies decided to exert some pressure.
Either that or he was stupid enough to take the mRNA and now he's suffering the consequences.
The 1000-page document, which has seen three revisions and two public hearings, aims to “structure the teaching of the state’s math standards around ‘big ideas’ that integrate rather than isolate math concepts,” “allow students to ‘see themselves’ in curriculum and in math-related careers by making math instruction culturally relevant and empowering” and “instill confidence in learners by dispelling myths about who can and cannot learn math.”
Flying in 20 years will be like playing Russian Roulette. Maybe your air traffic controller can add, maybe he has an education like this.
The reliance on machines will have to increase to compensate, or we'll just import all our engineers and accountants...what could go wrong!
This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. That entire thing screamed 'honeypot data collection run by bots.'
Just a new way to scrape peoples data and integrate itself into Instagram like a virus.
The real creepy part about this story is the White House changed the official transcripts to what she 'meant' to say, not what was said.
They literally changed history in front of our eyes and now have the precedent to begin editing words out of all Government transcripts.
THAT is the super fucked up part of this story.
The pictures in this article really tell the entire story.
Hoooooly shit.
Co-written by Barbie's Greta Gerwig, the upcoming adaptation will not feature a Prince Charming and will instead focus on a 'stronger' Snow White who dreams of becoming a leader.
Oh, that explains everything actually.
Well he had that weird unexplained wire that people saw during that first debate that could have been a number of things, most people thought it was either an elaborate hidden earpiece or drug delivery of some sort.
That got swept under the rug pretty fast.
This part jumped out. "Investor pressure to make streaming profitable" is what caused a pay drop? Not...you know...their total failure of their responsibilities?
The Board has to pressure them to drop their salaries in order to make a profit? Who the fuck sets these companies up?
