Nothing stops you from buying multiple kinds of fruit dude. I don’t give a fuck about your region either. How far away are you importing milk from? You know milk, that dairy product with an incredibly short shelf life. Those farmers are most likely being strangled out by a larger dairy farm in the area and not some dairy farmer on the other side of the globe. Why buy from this small farm who charges more for less while the bigger farm down the road sells a larger volume for less. Because you aren’t shipping milk from the other side of the continent let alone a whole different continent.
Really farmers can’t sell their own produce and dairy products at farmers markets or their own stands? They have to sell to a middle man? It’s physically impossible to advertise that consumers can get these things fresher straight from the source? No market for that at all is there?
Price hikes were going on prior to the invasion in ukraine. And there was a fertilizer shortage before which has worsened afterwards. maybe your dairy farmer friend can start selling his manure.
You think every town has the workforce and market to support their own chemical facility for nitrates along with the workforce and demand for the industry that buys nitrates for fertilizer. What about pharmaceutical plants? Every region need their own Tylenol factory? How much land will every region on the planet need to build factories for every product so that region never has to trade outside of their region, and will their be enough farmland to support said region?
What about countries like Monaco that’s just a single small city? They should never buy cars because all their cars have to be imported, only eat fish caught in the Mediterranean, and never seasoned with anything other than sea salt they collect themselves? Walk around completely nude since all cotton will need to be imported?
You sound like you want planned economies. Good luck with that comrade. I’m sure me paying $4.99 for a little indie game has just shuttered my local games industry.
Wtf are you talking about. Farmers who don’t sell bananas don’t compete with those that do. Me buying a banana does not prevent me from buying corn from the farmer down the road. Me being fine with global trade is not = to promoting importing third world immigrants. You can have both and we had it until fairly recently.
You have clearly never spoken to a farmer. The US government subsidizes them more to grow corn for ethanol than what they would make if they sold it for food. Corn, soybeans, and other crops would actually be cheaper when produced for food to be sold for the local populace if they were not being encouraged to sell their products to biofuel companies instead, and could actually grow enough where the US is a top Global exporter of many different crops. and still be able to sell them at a low price in country. The world should stop depending on China for manufacturing, but being anti buying foods that can’t grow natively in your area is fucking stupid.
You sound like a crazy demented person, “this was a nice country until that damn super market started selling bananas, pineapples and Star fruits, first it’s the foreign foods, then come the foreigners.”
No one has mentioned anything about Netflix, but be careful if you watch it. You might accidentally watch something filmed in Toronto and when you wake up the next morning 12 of those syrup chugging monsters will be playing hockey in you backyard.
Why should people who do not reside in areas where bananas and coffee grow not be able to purchase them and eat them. Why should farms that grow them be denied selling them to people who want them. You can eat both local crops and imported ones. I’m sure there aren’t that many people who live in temperate climates that exist solely off a diet of bananas. Good luck only living off of things only grown or manufactured in your home town.
Who said steam was a bastion of right wing content. As long as a platform enforces it’s rules equally to everyone it should not matter.
Your right it’s not money spent on kith and kin. It’s money spent for the enjoyment of the buyer, which is a perfectly reasonable thing to do.
So you are supporting globalism by using whatever device you are on since most of the raw materials were mined and probably are only found in a country different than your own? There is nothing wrong with buying foreign made goods. The issue is when big businesses and government pass laws in favor of multi national corporations that stamp out the local businesses. Can you point to the small time dev that is getting unfairly treated by their government because this guy gets special treatment?
By your logic the spice trade or buying bananas or coffee is globalism despite the fact most countries physically can not support those industries. But because they sell internationally they must be globalist.
Well most people hate furries
