Case law already allows game systems to be patented unfortunately. See the Nemesis system. Where Nintendo should lose here is that Palworld isn't the first copycat. If they didn't go after everyone they can't go after anyone.

I understand the sentiment but this leans way too much into the Japanese mentality of work-life balance. My sick days are a negotiated part of my contract. I feel no more hesitation in using them than I do in taking all of my paycheck home each week.

a known criminal who Italian police tried to deport

Who stopped them? Why does this happen in every country? When did a switch get flipped that made it easier to enter a country than to be removed?

Laissez-faire freedom of the media was a mistake. It's a nice idea. Maybe it could work in small populations. Most nations understand you need speech rules and censorship to direct the proper upbringing of future generations. I'm not sure what the best system for America would have been. At least something that gives local communities control over cultural propaganda. A lot of local channels would preempt network TV more often before consolidation.

It's Democrats and Republicans cheating Donald Trump.

That was the situation in 2016. It might be the optimist in me speaking, but I think Trump has locked in the establishment Right this time. They know he has this one in the bag and have largely bent the knee. Either they think they can use him as controlled opposition, or they plan to let the economy crash and put the blame on him. Can't speak to "Republican" state election officials though. They may act on their own.

Declared mentally unfit to stand trial is quite frankly the worst hell in the first world. It doesn't end. Ever.

Nice. A small silver lining to this story then. Still not punishment enough though.

I don't know how much of this theory is true but I want it to be. It sounds like the scary backstory to one of my Japanese animes.

It's a particular lie that hoplophobes are fine with politicians employing, or using themselves if it leads to their imagined gun free world. When you get to know them, it's easy to get them to admit their pleas for common sense gun laws are bullshit meant to disarm the public because it's for our own good.

It's the Libertarians+chamber of commerce+Koch Bros business alliance. The idea that any human should be free to move wherever they want... and a businessman should be free to hire whomever he wants, even for slave wages. Ignore all negative consequences.

NYT op-ed: "I wish I had been killed and eaten by an old white man instead of a Haitian."

Yes, even as a kid I remember news alternating between showing him as a mean right-wing Republican who hates poor people, and a doddering old fool. It wasn't nearly as bad as with Trump, and the neolib establishment has softened on him now. Leftists (communists) still hate him. I remember talking with a lefty younger co-worker about how Reagan's legacy looks better now and he said "no he was still a shitty president with trickle down economics."

Why do they have such an urge to be the hero, or even just "good guys"? I don't care if people think I'm a good person. That's between me and God. Leftists are obsessed with being on the right side. There must be some deep psych issues.
