Exposure to fluoride above the public health recommended amount over many years can result in skeletal fluorosis, a condition that causes weaker bones and joint pain. A federal review published in August by the National Institutes of Health’s toxicology program concluded that higher levels of fluoride is linked to lowered IQ in children.

The lower iq report has been repeatedly studied with the same results. 2-5 point iq loss in children. It also calcifies your pineal gland which fucks up everything from sleeping to your circadian rhythm.

You know, I watch a couple of those "New Age" creators, one is David Wilcock. He's pro-Trump but he talks about all kinds of weird shit, and one thing that's common among these New Age guys is talking about the "pineal gland". For the new age guys that thing is apparently like a third eye for humanity that ends up being closed as you grow older lol

So you mentioning the pineal gland made me wonder about the significance of it.

I don't actually think fluoride in the water is actually as serious as people think it is, but it really doesn't need to be in there if we had, I don't know, clean water and working pipes.

Maybe instead of putting fluoride in the water we should repair our infrastructure.

They don't put fluoride in the water to clean it, it's in there because at some point in the past they figured it would help with tooth health.

I don't believe it's ever shown that it does. I think it's protected the equipment and some portion of the water.

I mean, hell, purified water is actually quite difficult to maintain historically. Grog exists because alcohol was a great way to increase the longevity of water at sea.

If we can't even agree on why we started adding the chemical to water in the first place, yeah we can probably stop adding it for now.

And just because you said that, some middle-managerial bureaucrat is crying & panicking hysterically as he throws tubes of toothpaste into the local reservoir.

To be somewhat fair, flouride is also used to help sanitize the water too.

It just so happens that the primary reason it is added is for dental health, with the happy secondary benefit of being rather decent for sanitizing and cleaning things too.

Everybody's health is slightly worse because of fluoride in the water, but kids who don't brush their teeth regularly have much better teeth because of it.

So of course put it in the water... think of the children!!

In a sane world the kids getting free school lunches/breakfast would just have to brush with fluoride toothpaste as a condition of getting free food. The outcome for poor kids would be way better and the rest of us wouldn't suffer.

And then children who grew up from birth exposed to fluoride in tapwater develop moderate and severe dental fluorosis, which causes permanent structural damage to the teeth.

Moderate and severe dental fluorosis used to be rare, now 25% of US teens have it.

Oh and ''mild'' dental fluorosis ( cosmetic damage and texture change to the teeth ) used to be uncommon, now the vast majority of teens have it.

Short term limited benefit for permanent crippling of the future generations.

Other jurisdictions solved the question : if you're dumb enough, you can buy fluoridated salt to cook with to poison your children with that instead on a voluntary basis.

Fluoride is like hand soap : you're not supposed to swallow it. Wash and rince off.

I'm not sure I believe that. I think kids going without brushing their teeth for a while would be okay if they weren't constantly ingesting vast quantities of sugar.

Yes and no, if you look into older dental recorders in history you will find that missing teeth was very common, and that dental hygiene was...not great.

Now their teeth was certainly not as filthy as we portray it as, they actually did brush their teeth with rudimentary things, but it was certainly no where even remotely close to the level that we have nowadays, and as a result having dental issues was unfortunately fairly common.

I don't disagree with that, I just think the sugar is probably the primary culprit.

This must be a very confusing time to be a "granola liberal". Though as we see time and again the "liberal" wins out over the modifier.

They never did quite figure out how to fit the vaccines into their worldview. I remember going to this brewery a couple years ago that also sold a bunch of naturopath stuff which demanded that everyone who entered either be vaccinated or wear a mask.

Like environmentalists they were always watermelons: green on the outside, but red inside.
