Rossman finally had The Ross Man on a livestream, so we can all chill now and appreciate that Ross and Rossman are on the same page. u/throwawayaccount2037
No, I'm not running cover for the pedo that used to run rampant here. I am honestly seeking answers.
Haha no worries. Obviously the answer is no....
one of which had an underage girl on it...who, so I'm told, was maybe two months under Japan's age of consent.
She was for the streets.
I tend to believe the vast majority of the asian world worked that way throughout history, having Caucasian or East Asian rulers. They would either dominate or push out uncivilized tribes to harsher border lands. But over time the browns eventually gain enough numbers to overwhelm the ruling minority in every country. Arabs tried to reverse the decline through White slavery. Jews did it via mixing with Europeans during the diaspora.
We kind of see the tail-ends of the phenomenon in real time with Egypt and Syria which still have affluent ruling classes who are whiter than a lot of the common people.
Unfortunately the law was never really settled around this, and for some reason judges tend to treat games as some kind of special magic toys they don't care about, distinct from other well understood products. The UK's response to Ross was basically "this is already protected under consumer law" even though the details in their response letter showed that it isn't protected at all. In the US the courts have ruled that the EULA trumps everything, no matter what it says the company can do and whether or not the customer ever actually agreed to the terms.
Doubt it could hurt. Worst thing I imagine would be the EU strictly defining classes of games - product vs service vs limited service - which might shoehorn game development rather than letting the publishers creatively find new market solutions. But I don't think the AAA gaming industry could get any worse though no matter what they do.
The most "monkeys paw" solution Ross envisioned happening is they merely require a disclaimer on boxes that says "this is a live service game that could go away at any time", which would take care of the consumer rights issue but doesn't solve the actual problem.
it’s going to be hard to pressure them into open sourcing something or making it easy to rent servers.
Assuming it goes anywhere, the point of the petition is to craft law requiring them to do so. It would only apply to new game development, so presumably they would consider all that before building their platform on top of licensed middleware that can't be freely released at EoL. It's a trivial ask.
It's also intentionally left vague. Ross is hoping the game publishers can work out exactly how to make the game still playable in some form, without forcing them to "open source" their code or anything like that if they don't want to. It certainly wouldn't require them to rent their own servers. They could release binaries that players can run on AWS for example. Most of the games that get killed are not truly online games but have been intentionally crippled with GaaS connectivity as a sort of planned obsolescence. For example it might have a single-player mode but it has to ping a central server to download rankings or something.
I know I remember bits and pieces from when I was a kid and my dad was watching it, but I never actually sat and watched it all the way through.
Same here. I keep meaning to rewatch that one, along with John Candy's other movies.
They also have a culture that awards extreme overconfidence, like running in front of trains and pursuing women out of their league, and multiply like cockroaches even in the worst conditions. The only solution is containment.
It is in fact the clowns that worry me more than the technology. AI or what we are calling AI is neutral. It's just a technology of convenience, like hammers and power drills. What you're going to end up with is people like in the tweet, who may have good intentions or may be trying to sell their solutions, trying their hardest to sanitize AI and make it a perfect god. At some point they will say "Finally, we worked out the bugs. AI is on our side now. NOW we can put it in charge of the nukes." The people doing the most fear-mongering about AI will fulfill their own prophecy if we don't get a Butlerian Jihad before it's too late.
We are being SABOTAGED!
T_D energy. This is one reason I got bored of that place. The constant whining in half the threads. Daily "JUDGE STOPS TRUMP FROM TYING HIS SHOES" posts to which I could only reply "So don't listen to the judge?" I noticed more people sharing my sentiments over time, but the posts kept coming. This has the same energy. Constant complaining about "muh RINOs" as if this was not foreseen.
The other half of posts are the "WINNING!" posts. Because CNN posts a half-positive story about Trump, or someone got mic-dropped on twitter, or like with Thune or whomever saying he won't seek reelection because Trump wants him replaced. "HE BENT THE KNEE TO GEOTUS!" You guys realize the politician saying "I'm not seeking reelection" means he's gonna do whatever he wants in this term and he doesn't care what you think, right?
He claims he didn't know the guy had said that at the time.
That would be the world that created the high trust societies we used to be proud of. Europeans for thousands of years engaged in low-level eugenics and social darwinism to eliminate the weak and violent. Now we do the opposite, especially in Europe where they are whining about the death penalty and letting in hordes of Southrons to live among the pacified population.
Give a pass? There's tons of people here willing to do that work. Does Trump hate Americans? Look if he felt sorry for the poor Mexicans ladies who settled down here to fluff pillows, he doesn't have to ICE them - just gradually start punishing the business owners who hired them. Eventually the jobs dry up and they self deport. This is all theoretical though since we're talking about a random tweet with no sources.
But yeah, the 'loli debate' is still a BIG argument even on here. I maintain so long as it's purely fictional either drawn or animated not basing off real people, meh.
Is this about porn? I thought you guys were talking about vtubers. I don't understand why the topics are conflated, from either side.
It is funny how fast the left turned on Elon, from Tony Stark to Hitler in a couple of years.
Media is the root of all evil. Outside of people working in media themselves, celebrities are the most ideologically captured, because all their fame and entire public persona only exists thanks to the media creating and promoting them. When it comes to politics news we can say in large part most of us in America have moved away from legacy media to alternate sources, but "access media" is still very much controlled by the old beast and the pedos that run in the same circles as movie industry i.e. Variety.
It's sad but everyone just wants to be liked, most especially President Trump.
