The benefits of console vs PC gaming is essentially gone. What exclusives are there outside of Nintendo. Nintendo being the only company that didnt try to compete for best graphics this keeping their products cheap.
How cheap are Nintendo products actually though? I have a switch 1 I got as a gift forever ago that I mostly use for indie games and monster hunter, but out of curiosity I checked to see how much SSB Brawl or BotW were, and that shit is still $60.

I just bought Ender Lilies and Ender Magnolia for like $30 together instead. Lilies has a wonderful soundtrack.
It's insane that people consider an exclusive a "benefit." The only people that exclusives have ever benefited are stock holders.
It had justification when consoles had custom architectures, and pushing other innovations. The last innovations were the 360/ps3 and Switch. Consoles were actually different in capability from each other during the 80s and 90s. They also had a different capabilities than a PCs, which started converging when 3dfx and Nvidia came around.

The hardware is fake - fake resolution, fake frames, soon fake art.
The games are predatory - live service, battle passes, microtransactions.

Most of the consoles are digital only, so games won't be playable at all in the future. Even on disk models, the primary SSD is proprietary and soldered in and has limited lifespan, ensuring that they'll all be e-waste by the time the ps6 pro is out.
Controllers are flimsier and more expensive than ever, no one uses hall effect sticks (discovered in 1879), creating a de-facto subscription. Sony keeps announcing new themed controllers and people eat it up because they have to buy a new one every year.
This is on top of the subscription multiplayer scam carried over from the previous generations, where you pay to use your own internet.
Thank god ive got 2 pcs + spare parts + hard drives filled with games so I can last a while. NOT getting windows 11 neither
The pro being ~$950 after tax is wild. I bought the first gen of the pro for $735 after tax it’s ~30% higher now.

In canada, if you dare to earn 250k, every single penny will be taxed at 60%. not kidding. 54% max taxes + various fees for social programs/deductions.
This in effect means that if you work monday to friday, you work monday, tuesday and wednesday 100% for the government. And of course you still need to pay sales taxes, various taxes ("accise taxes"), etc
The main problem here is that unless you are born into this, by the time you reach this amount, you will be in your 50s, and life is essentially over anyway
I’ve yet to run into a game that I wanted to play and can’t get to play acceptably on my 2022 build budget PC. I just turn the resolution down. 1080P vs 4K isn’t a game breaking choice. That’s all the consoles do anyway is secretly turn down the resolution and run it thru some FPS faking filters.

Thank goodness for emulation. Plenty of Wii/GameCube, PS1-3 and Xbox games to play and replay.

Switch two is already out (albeit it is bit of a disappointment so far, but Nintendo has time) but Sony and Microsoft have shown no plans for the next console generation. Both seem to be squandering what market share and fanbase they have left. The future belongs to Steam and Nintendo. My gaming laptop and Switch Two get played all the time. My Xbox One is a streaming device for my TV now.
