I don’t think that’s an entirely fair reading of George, he’s a big admirer of Tolkien and LOtR, he just said he’s more interested in the messier parts of history like politics. I don’t think he’s ever said that he’s superior to Tolkien, he’s just interested in different aspects of fantasy. I will agree that he’s a lazy, unfocused fuck who’s gotten increasingly high off of his own supply lately.
LotR and GoT are so fundamentally different that you can't even compare them. Tolkien wanted to create a folk saga like Nibelungen. A Song of Ice and Fire is a low fantasy drama purely for entertainment.
Even the LotR movies are still miles above GoT despite already being reduced to mostly entertainment fantasy compared to the books which is why Tolkiens son absolutely fucking hated them.
Berserk still understood good and evil, it just drown good in evil to the point that it's almost gone. That's kinda the whole point of it, the near impossible struggle to hold on to anything good in an evil world. Even the "grey" characters move towards good through adversity and revelation.
GoT rejects the idea of good entirely for "everybody kinda sucks".
Yeah George was far more influenced by real life tales like the War of the Roses, and basically magnified all the degenerate twisted elements he could find in medieval history. I don't read Beserk in his stories.
Am I the only person who just wasn’t crazy about Season 1? Everyone was sucking it off like it was the herald that tv was finally healing but I just thought it had so much retard shit shoveled into it. Like Peter Claffey is awesome in it but the stupid modern gub-gub bugman humor and th shitty casting of everyone else ruined it for me. Why did they turn Lyonel Baratheon into a even gayer Jack Sparrow? Why is a child actor talking about fisting? Why do I have to see diarrhea, giant cocks, and niggers in every episode? Why the fuck is the jousting at night? It’s like they wanted to make a shittier, more modern A Knight’s Tale .
Maybe it’s my fault for reading the Graphic Novel first? That was top-tier. Anyway autistic rant over.
Honestly the bar is so low that's why myself and others praised it so much. I could def nitpick stuff and I think most of your critiques are valid. But I did enjoy it overall, everything else sucks these days
I did the audiobook and still enjoyed it, but I also had a couple years in between. I forgot about the graphic novel actually, thanks for reminding me. I'm gonna check it out
I didn't even bother watching it, because I don't trust TV producers. I'll give a show a chance if it can make it to the series finale without going woke or otherwise jumping the shark.
Same. I don't even bother because there's gonna be a bunch of woke shit and when I point it out people will be like "well it's not as woke as insert series, why can't you just enjoy it!" as a nigger rapes some woman on screen.
You probably aren't the only one. I enjoyed it. Lyonel is a little faeish at first but I enjoyed him. I know the tone of the tv show was supposed to be more light-hearted than the novellas they are adapted from.
I liked him in the trial of the seven, that finally unfucked him a little bit for me. I still hate his look though, his actor would have been better as Baelor.
The race swap is the litmus test for how well they have normies wrapped around their finger. If the general consensus for the show is, "This show is amazing, who cares if they race-swap a minor character?" then they've already won and will move to the next step.
Their main goal is White demoralisation.
This is accomplished in two ways: force-feeding the audience to accept miscegenation and faggotry.
When they introduce the interracial relationship (typically a fair White female) and faggotry (this could be a lead masculine character to normalise faggotry amongst the lads, or it could be a White female who SHOULD be with a White bloke but will instead end up with another wench just to hammer home that good White men don't deserve a fair White woman (or she has no interest in White men)) then they will have won.
I made some comment about this a short while ago about how the first season is typically top notch to lure people in, but then subsequent seasons are used to further demoralise the audience with typical Liberal Progressive ideology.
This is all predicated on pushing the Overton Window further left.
Right now the zeitgeist have a stranglehold on entertainment media, and seem to be winning when it comes to poisoning the minds of the masses.
Nothing changes unless something upends the current pattern that has been overtly aggressive in its pervasiveness since 2012 (and a long-tail goal that has been in the works since the 1960s).
I listened to the audiobooks but can't remember the character, that honestly kind of saves it a bit lol. Like a meta joke. I'm sure there will be more though
They remind us all the time that Hollywood used to cast white actors as POC and it was evil and wrong. Somehow doing it the other way is fine and noble
I respect your stance

George RR Martin's work was heavily influenced by the manga Berzerk. I'm not entirely sure undermining Tolkien was his goal.
Is there a basis to that statement?
It'd be one thing if you said Dark Souls, but GoT? I don't see it at all.
Yeah George was far more influenced by real life tales like the War of the Roses, and basically magnified all the degenerate twisted elements he could find in medieval history. I don't read Beserk in his stories.
Based.
This is the correct take. All of the gritty “realism” he’s known for is better done by Howard and Moorcock anyway.

That’s what I figured. If I hadn’t read the Graphic Novel it would probably be a whole letter grade higher for me.
I did the audiobook and still enjoyed it, but I also had a couple years in between. I forgot about the graphic novel actually, thanks for reminding me. I'm gonna check it out
All three D&E graphic novels are excellent, I highly recommend them if you don’t care about the show being spoiled.
Maybe go outside?
Maybe suck my dick?
I read the book years ago and thought it was shit.
I've only seen 2-3 episodes, but the one that really got me was the fucking jousting at night. That's just so...dumb. Just, DUMB.
The giant cock I thought was pretty funny..

Black chicks in a Medieval European setting means it sucks.
I know I’m being a petty nerd but I refuse to watch anything related to him until he finishes the Ice and Fire books
Monkey-ass name. All that's missing is the N. Ironic.
Wasn’t that the name of Aladdin’s monkey?
Leave it to a white man to assume Abu is owned by someone. /s
Looks like you guys might have had it right.
It’s extra weird because the one character they black’d is a total piece of shit in the story.
I listened to the audiobooks but can't remember the character, that honestly kind of saves it a bit lol. Like a meta joke. I'm sure there will be more though
His name is Benis of the Brown Shield funnily enough. Secretly based?
Ebin benis :-DDD
season 1 was perfect just as it was. there's nothing after it.
Brought to you by everyone's favorite band, One Direction. That's right, it always goes in One Direction.
They remind us all the time that Hollywood used to cast white actors as POC and it was evil and wrong. Somehow doing it the other way is fine and noble
Of course I actually enjoy something and they have to ruin it. We can't have anything
HBO had a black Targaryen in House of the Dragon. You had to know they were going to woke this one up as well.
