Took a look at the lease terms. These leases aren't rent-to-own; you either continue renting it month-to-month or return it. At the end of the 36 months, you've paid the price of a new PS5 with nothing to show for it.

Buy a decently new 1L/Tiny/Mini/Micro PC, install Batocera, enjoy everything up to the PS2/OG XBox era. A i5-12500 and iGPU can run all of that, though later XBox games might choke it a bit.

My first major purchase of a PS2 was done via layaway. I've also bought consoles from catalog shopping, like Fingerhut. Point being I bought things with payments, I wouldn't lease one

Given the quality of these consoles, I would hope the lease contract specifies that if the console inevitably craps out, the leasing company will eat the cost.
