The Lost Generation
For fifteen years I’ve scalped tickets to pay the bills. But in January 2016 I almost managed a real career.

Couple of things:

  1. The year 2014 falls a lot. It wasn't just in our imagination. It wasn't because people changed. It wasn't because they started to notice things. The year of Gamergate was a turning point. And I didn't even know that all this was going on in precisely this manner. I didn't have the numbers, but I did have people trying to insult me by calling me 'just a white boy'- because that's bad. And when I say I'm not, I'm a white supremacist liar, because white supremacists have a habit of pretending to be non-white. Quite extraordinary.
  2. I can understand fans of Fuentes better now, whether or not he's a fed, because you're not going to care about 'universal principles' when these are blatantly violated in order to screw you over.
  3. How many blacks say that they have to work twice as hard to get half as much? Quite a lot. It's embarrassing. I understand not wanting to admit even to yourself that you didn't earn what you have, because it's humiliating and it's wrong. But it's white men who have to work twice as hard to get absolutely nowhere now.

But my favorite part:

The white men who do get hired are often older and more established—or foreign. Several people I spoke with noticed that European white men don't seem to face these barriers. The reason, one professor suggested, is they exist slightly outside the American culture wars. Another is an administrative sleight of hand: Federal education statistics (IPEDS) classify foreign nationals outside racial categories. In other words, a white European on a work visa doesn't register as “white” in diversity metrics. Among new Ph.Ds with definite academic employment plans, white temporary-visa holders are nearly twice as likely as white U.S. citizens or permanent residents to secure tenure-track positions (61.0 percent versus 33.1 percent in 2023).

Bureaucratic tyranny and the banality of evil in one paragraph. And to top it off, what a breaking of the social contract, to privilege people from other countries over your own people, where none of your usual stupid excuses are relevant.

2014 was the first year I ever heard “White” used as a pejorative.

The writing was on the wall before 2014, even for us. The US was probably much more brazen about it but I'm sure you'll remember schoool/Uni being all expectation and no encouragement or assistance. That same attitude was reflected all throughout the workforce. It was more gender-focussed than race-focussed because of the population numbers and a subdued race based consciousness over here. 2014 just seems like the time enough people got fed up of it all.

I grew up in Europe, so my school/Uni was no encouragement and assistance, nor any expectation.

Same, I just always saw it as the expectations are more of a given and that we'd be fine regardless. So any denigration or dismissal would be of no consequence. Which was honestly fine for me at the time, because I half believed it myself. They just failed to see beyond any given instance of it for the absoulte barrage of crap that it actually was. Justified in the moment but oblivious to the totality.

It does seem like 2014 was the year the massive woke acceleration began. Things were trending in that direction for decades prior, but 2014 is when it REALLY started to pick up speed. We all noticed it at the time, but they’ve been gaslighting us so much for so long: “nothing is happening, you stupid nazi racist”

GamerGate

Imagine still pretending this "movement" has relevance. You ceased to stand for anything when you watched Project 2025 age gate GTA V behind Digital ID and didn't say shit.

You were nothing more than Pedo Steve Bannon's way of gaslighting young men into believing the right was any less female-centric than the left.

I notice it, but I proved it with several posts that this place is a cross between the Daily Stormer and a GOP pro-family think tank like the IFS.

You don't care about games any more than you care about men's rights. When things don't align with the GOP, they just get buried.

Correct. GG is not about games, nor about men's rights, but about defeating social justice.

I feel this hard in my industry. It took awhile, but the mortgage industry is now dominated by White women who are obsessed with promoting/hiring anyone non-White male. I get perfect reviews & am well-liked (even loved) among my colleagues.

But there is this nagging feeling that I should have hustled harder to advance my career & raise my pay between 2012-2022 because there is NO CHANCE that is going to happen now.

My wife asks “what are we going to do in 15 years? What is [our son] going to do?” I don’t have any easy answers.

Industry specific: 2020-2022. WuFlu and lockdowns were AWESOME for the mortgage industry! 2% mortgage interest rates and WFH/White flight from the cities to the suburbs & blue states to red states.

Now rates are significantly higher (6-7%) and prices are absolutely out-of-control. So yes, far worse.

I saw a subreply on Twitter note that a lot of the "White men" still working in Hollywood according to article were tiny hats. And that the author himself might be as well.

It was also noted that the author's overall conclusion was that it wasn't right to blame women & POCs for the rigged game and that it was actually the young "White" man's fault for not bootstrapping hard enough.

The right wing marriage shills are absolutely desperate to trick young men into one last dumbfuck move in electing Vance.

I can guarantee with all my money on the line, that JD Vance will not improve anything for young single men. That's not what the Republican Party does. You can see it now under Trump. Nothing has gotten better unless you're married with kids or a woman.

They don't see you as human, much less their ally.

young single men

You don't speak for them.

First of all you're nearly as old as I am, which is part of why your dad died disappointed in you because you never got him any grandchildren.

And secondly you only speak for the chronic masturbators, the shower averse and the canned ravioli club.

Old enough to disappoint your father on his deathbed.

As for politics, the opinion of a foreigner is less than worthless. Least of all a coward who fled multiple countries and now cringes in a non extradition state lol.

Trying to rile me up by bringing up my father doesn't work.

The opinion of a paid shill has negative value, you'll say whatever you're paid to say. You'd say to elect Mia fucking Khalifa if that's what your script told you to do.

Fetterman voted for all the natalist horseshit so far, so I don't really think that election mattered.

How can it be worse? The cuts were non-existent, spending has actually increased, but now solely for people with kids. The state now funds IVF and GLP-1s, but blocked funding Medicaid for childless adults. Agenda 47, the actual platform he ran on, might as well be in Korean for all it has influenced. Only thing on there that happened was the least important one, defending women's shit sports. The economy is shot and he's floating ridiculous ideas constantly. Unemployment is at 4 year highs, which is actually dishonest, because excluding the pandemic, it's the highest since the GFC. The only "American values" he's exporting is unwanted natalist fiscal policy, and the less said about "war on Islam", the better it is for him, because he bent over faster than Muhammad for hung black traders.

It can be his do-nothing first term. I can say that now, right? Before his second term, people always jumped in to assure me NO, HE ACCOMPLISHED A WHOLE LOT. I'll grant him the "no new wars" which he's voided now.

spending has actually increased, but now solely for people with kids

Based.

Speaking of which, you assured me that he was going to lose because of that.
