Relatives screaming that Republicans are evil because they want to deny poor people food, they're not the ones that voted against the shutdown 15 times

I've been saying from the get go that they need their noses rubbed in this if Republican victories are to mean anything. Somehow the GOP managed to not fuck this one up. r/politics is taking it well.

At least they and I can agree that it'd be great if Schumer resigned.

Knowing Democrats, whoever gets that spot after will make us wish Schumer was back

AOC is going to get that spot. Everybody has known that for months. Schumer did the shutdown hoping it would gain him support from the crazy wing of the party to stave her off.

It didn't work.

They can't revel in it, because poor and needy people were suffering.

The moderates had expected a larger number of Democrats to vote with them as around 10-12 Democratic senators had been part of the negotiations. But in the end, only five Democrats switched their votes — the exact number that Republicans needed. King, Cortez Masto and Fetterman had already been voting to open the government since Oct. 1.

For all the jokes that were made during the campaign, it still astonishes me that Fetterman consistently manages to be one of the least retarded Democrats. He even recently said that constantly comparing everyone to Hitler is counterproductive. That's what passes as a big-brain move over there.

the stroke factory reset his brain, it's the only explanation

Is Fetterman the guy that looks like shrek and had a stroke?

Fetterman knows that acting moderate secures his seat for next time. 100% of dems will still vote for him in the general once he survives the primary. Plus he will get a few gullible and retatded R's who think he is "moderate" cause of shit like this despite towing the party line 95% of the time. That is enough to get him re-elected in a closely contested state.

Probably the stroke preventing him from having the necessary higher brain function to be a good slave, which says a lot about the Democratic Party.

He does feel like an actual human though most of the time, instead of a robotically groomed swamp creature. Something that is refreshing even if its in my opposition.

The agreement also includes a reversal of the mass firings of federal workers by the Trump administration since the shutdown began on Oct. 1 and would ensure that federal workers receive back pay

Plus this just kicks the can down until January. They’re going to protest shutdown the government repeatedly the rest of the admin because it worked better for them than for the GOP.

They’re going to protest shutdown the government repeatedly the rest of the admin because it worked better for them than for the GOP.

The media is running cover for them as usual which may or may not deflect the blame that the GOP would have gotten if the situation was reversed. Other than that they didn't walk away with anything they weren't already being offered before the shutdown. In that sense it didn't work any better for them than it did for the GOP.

That's not to say they won't do what you're predicting. The GOP's rare failure to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory makes it less likely, but far from impossible. The Dems' main motivation is to put on show for their lunatic base, and they'll be just as eager to do that in January. Having to bend over like a bitch afterwards nullifies any benefit any political benefit they would otherwise gain, but we're not dealing with rational people here. They never would have shut down the government if we were.

Not if the media simply leaves that part out.

"We are declaring victory over Trump once again (by finally voting yes on his bill, but leave that part out of the captured press release)!"

Is this not already the law anyway? I can't recall a single shutdown where they didn't get back pay, and I swear it was codified into law at some point that they always get it.

Furloughed workers get back pay by law. RIF'd employees do not. This is referring to the employees that were actually let go in a RIF but are being brought back as part of the deal.

This does not look like caving

https://x.com/unusual_whales/status/1987692587634114852

*- the agreement funds the government through january 30 and schedules a december vote on the affordable care act bill.

  • the deal reverses president Trump’s firings of federal employees and adds provisions to prevent future such actions.
  • it also ensures food stamps are funded through fiscal year 2026, according to sources.*

Dems get rehired and their clients get free stuff again. Total fail. Republicans swerve once again. They need to learn to endure the bad press and let the cockroaches starve. Soon enough the left's minions will devour the leadership for you, if only you let them.
