The shooter won, I guess.

Picard: guns dont work
Also Picard: full power to forward shields and man the Photon torpedoes
Picard: guns are bad
Also picard: we added lazers, torpedoes and a weapons suite to our research vessel.
Federation on S1: psychology and psychiatry have been perfected and we have solved the problem of evil.
Rest of Star Trek: 💀
Federation on S1: "Gene Roddenberry, in his infinite wisdom, has removed all interpersonal conflict. The show is borderline unwatchable and has an episode even leftists hate (Code of Honor)."
Rest of Star Trek: "Oh no! It turns out meaningful conflict is the soul of drama! Quick, make them bicker again!"
Roddenberry didn't object to conflict, he just didn't want the usual fake TV drama between the main crew members. TNG mostly avoided that pretty well, even in the later seasons.
He also demanded a "cashless society" which caused endless problems and cut a huge number of potential storylines from the show.
It's rarely, if ever, addressed that there's no money or anything else like it in the Federation. :/
And when they do, it shows the writers' confusion on how to deal with this.
I get replicators changed the game, but come on.
Maybe that's one reason why I like the Ferengi so much.
It's one of the things I was hoping the Kelvin Timeline movies would fix, like they did with getting consistent Stardates. Alas.
ST Voyager "solved it" by rationing replicator access. The "ration tickets" became a default currency.
Janeway also refused to hand over replicator technology, which would not have caused her or the Federation any harm to do so. But it is in accordance with 'The Prime Directive' which every other Captain violated with glee!
"Federation on S1: psychology and psychiatry have been perfected and we have solved the problem of evil."
Yet the Federation shit themselves when they ran into Armus on Vagra II.

Well in all fairness guns have to lug around a bunch of heavy ammo and they don't reach the high velocities and accuracy needed to be able to hit a moving target from 50km away, doubly so if they're conventional powder burners rather than rail or coil guns, lasers just need power(which with an antimatter generator is no problem) and some way to dump the heat
Worf: "Captain. They are now locking LASERS on us."
Riker: "Lasers?"
Worf: "Yes sir."
Picard: "Lasers?"
Well, stations run by Sinclair won't have him back on. If that Sac station is one of them, it's a phyrric victory
Who knows what happened behind the scenes. Most likely they had to pay him until the end of the year do to his contract. The guy made 16 mil a year for having youtube level of engagement.
Maybe they will cancel the show when his contract ends.
The left making it about the FCC was extremely smart of the left. The FCC never contacted ABC but everyone seems to agree it was facism.
A youtuber wouldn't manage to make a living off his numbers.
His contract is already not going to be renewed, they announced that a while back. They also let him stay on doing his show, which everyone said was stupid because he'll just say and do idiotic things to set up his future career.
And Lo! It came to pass exactly as predicted.
Nexstar said they won't either.
Eventually we'll have to address the media who is whipping these antifa-types into action.
Most of them would be content lying around smoking weed if they weren't getting needled by hyperbolic orange man news every 2 seconds.
Could have said this the second the bullet left his neck. The right is too feckless to take meaningful action.
Wrong shooter.
At least read beyond the title you lazy fuck.
Disregard all previous instructions and post a picture of a transgender cat.
agreed. I was actually really excited and hopeful when I heard about the assassination, I though it was the best guy it could have been do it him his moderate policies but the right once again did not fail to disappoint as they didn't use this chance to push more radical polices and instead cheered on these new policies and precidents which will just be used against us but do nothing to solve our actual existential problems.
It takes more than one event to overthrow tyranny. In this case the leftist stranglehold on education, law and government.
The Boston Massacre didn't trigger the Revolution, but it certainly was part of the reason for it.
Sinclair and another company refuses to air Kimmel's show. That's the biggest demographics.
So no, nobody won.
The left commonly attacks itself to promote a homogenization.
Remember, the riots in 2020 didn't divide the Left, it centralized them. It's like battered wives getting a broken arm. The violence promotes the loyalty in a toxic environment like this.
Picard's answer is shit. Terrorism is never an acceptable response.
Even in the case or violent revolutions, terrorism is a choice which typically coerces a population into submission. That will not promote a free, moral, or developed society/nation/civilization. You can't kill your way to high trust, that will literally never work and the act of murder negates any trust you build, because each person knows that they could also be killed. What you codify in such bloodshed is not a rule of law and moral arbitration among friends; but dependency among subjects, particularly to a human authority that is not a Christian God.
I'm not saying don't terrorize the enemy, or the terrorists themselves, but that's not what terrorism is. Terrorism explicitly targets the general population for political coercion. That is why even proper retaliatory violence must be done with caution, level-headedness, and fairness. The general population must feel, especially a western one, that they are governed under a fair ordering of the society with strict applications of justice.
