NPR: Police say ICE tactics are eroding public trust in local law enforcement (archive.md)

My trust in local law enforcement was already eroding years ago. If local law enforcement starts helping to eject foreigners from my city that might improve my opinion of them, but even then I'm still going to be wary of them.

Translation: ICE raids are eroding leftist trust that the establishment is on their side.

“Whatever happens around the country, whoever is president, you are our community. We are your officers,” Santa Fe Police Chief Paul Joye said with the help of a Spanish interpreter. “It is a fundamental human right that you feel safe in your home regardless of where you’re from.”

It’s not actually, in fact no country has that as a human right, should criminals feel safe in their home Paul?

It’s not uncommon for many people living in the U.S. without legal status to be wary of police. But as the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement efforts have intensified, local police leaders say the fear many immigrants experience has also ramped up, and it’s making their jobs harder.

“It’s scary when you arrest criminals and it makes our jobs harder”

At the Santa Fe meeting, Chief Joye, who dressed in plainclothes for fear his uniform might make people nervous, acknowledged his department’s policy does allow them to work with federal immigration authorities in some instances.

Chief Joye would watch you get murdered and do nothing to prevent it

Many police want federal immigration authorities to detain people without legal status who have committed violent crimes or other felonies, but they don’t want to scare away immigrants who are following the law — which they are more likely to do than citizens — from calling the police.

Another lie hamfisted in, illegal immigrants are all criminals, funny how they pathologically lie at every turn

which they are more likely to do than citizens

Doubt. If this is even partially not a lie, then its a lie by statistics because illegals just won't report crimes because they don't want to bring attention.

Inherently it is a lie, because 100% of them have committed crimes just being here, whether by overstaying a visa or illegally entering.

Of course, but even pushing that aside for the sake of discussion here, its still a complete lie.

So even if you accept the "no borders, no illegals" idea of the Lefties, its still a fabrication.

Santa Fe Police Chief Paul Joye said with the help of a Spanish interpreter.

Too lazy to read the article, but are we talking about the Santa Fe in the motherfucking US?

Because if so, then why does a police officer not speak the language of his supposed home country? That alone should be grounds for deportation. Citizenship or not.

"Illegal immigrants commit fewer crimes than citizens" is as blatant of a lie as "nobody who gets sex change surgery regrets it". Just completely insane, anybody who says things like that is somebody you can't communicate with about anything.

Funny. Take my word for what it's worth, but according to my boss, alot of Sheriffs absolutely fucking loathe having to deal with bilingual bullshit.

If you aren't drunk on anti-white and DEI bullshit, illegals are nothing but negatives for law enforcement. It requires bilingual on hand, a shit ton more paperwork, and a whole new ghetto (which all bring a whole host of problems with gangs, insular communities, and the like).

So any cop that is being honest with themselves probably is all for this, even if their bosses aren't for political reasons.

I lost whatever trust I had left in 2020 when pig-thugs were enforcing unconstitutional coof edicts.

I have zero sympathy for police anymore and as far as I'm concerned they can suffer through their jobs getting a hundred times harder and their funding a hundred times less.

Yup, I saw them be gleeful about a chance to trample freedom protestors in Canada. And in an aussie train station I saw throw a young man’s head hard against the concrete floor and then stand around, not giving aid and blocking first aid. Only one of the 5 there simply list his job. Anyone good was forced out by the mandates.

Huh, almost like showing that you could have done something about the illegals destroying your town might make people suddenly question why you didn't and cease to trust your judgement further.

The same way most of that trust was eroded in 2020 when the cops showed they could stop anybody outside if they were breaking "quarantine" but they chose not to if those people were doing it to riot and protest for some nigger.

Trust by illegals. Who gives a shit?

you are our community. We are your officers," Santa Fe Police Chief Paul Joye said with the help of a Spanish interpreter.

The fact that he has to use a translator to say this says it all. These aren't "your community". These are illegal aliens.

I can imagine distrust of local police increasing across the board. Some departments will help ICE, some won't. The inconsistency raises doubts either way.

we're not helping ICE

Why not? Well?

The town hall was a stupid idea anyway, illegals aren't going to trust someone in a uniform because they talked nicely to them

The ability of shitlib media to post almost exactly 180 degree reversals of reality is really impressive.

What eroded public trust in law enforcement was watching them release criminals and kneel before criminal sympathizers.

Police, as a concept, is feminist.

Look at the United Kingdom for an example of late stage feminism.
