From 2001 to 2013 there were multiple GTA games, multiple DLCs, multiple games that were not GTA such as, Midnight Club, The Warriors, Smuggler's Run 1 and 2, Manhunt 1 and 2, Bully, Red Dead, Max Payne 3, (and State of Emergency and Table Tennis if they count, they're barely games, but they are games.)
From 2013 to now they made Red Dead 2 and nothing except for GTA V online DLCs.
I have zero interest in GTA VI, knowing that it's got the attention of what seems to be 90-95% of rockstar to maintain once it's live. The drive to make something fun and new is gone, and it's been replaced with: What would make us more money in the shop.
Whether they DEI it or not (looks like they have), I'm not gonna bother either way.
Should also point out for people not paying attention in that less-than-a-minute video, all the games listed there are within a 3 year span.
People HATE when you point this out too. They hate the idea that old games were constantly being churned out, we didn't have complaints of "crunch", we didn't get excuses, and we didn't have to rely on patches for a year until the game was properly playable through bug-fixing.
Anyone saying the state of the industry is better today than 20 years ago is a top tier retard that has very little idea what they're talking about.
Yup, they also made games on smaller budgets with smaller staff and with much more complex gameplay mechanics than we get today (i.e., we still don't have ONE game today that rivals Super Mario Galaxy from the Wii when it comes to physics, same way we have no new games with physics properties like the original Portal).
It's just embarrassing when you look at how far the industry has regressed.
I always laugh at people bitching that studios don't have resources and I just look at the PS2 era. Like it wasn't just Rockstar that was like this. Insomniac, Naughty Dog, and Sucker Punch all released hit platformer trilogies over about 5 years, and they were all stellar games. And that's just western developers.
Worse they killed Bully sequel teams multiple times because someone told them it wouldn't be as lucrative as just plugging more cars and shit into GTA Online so people will buy Shark Cards.
The old sceptic in me would think that it's to get people used to new systems of microtransaction and have them pump up their characters and accounts for some sort of crossover badge and merit scheme which they can show off once the new game comes out.
New relatively young cynic in me is wondering how much of the storyline will they play around with to line up with the new Sweet Baby Inc and Silverstring Media approved agenda that will be the backbone of GTA VI.
Could be nothing, could be everything, probably be something in the middle. But keep an eye out come March 4th for people noticing changes in San Andreas and how that might align with the next iteration of the franchise.
I’m betting online is going to be the bread and butter, this is also in their best interest if the story mode is complete garbage (most likely). They will make some kind of transfer for gta v online toons and I’m betting the overwhelming majority of the work is on the online. They likely won’t even have a story mode by gta7 if 6 has the story mode I’m expecting.
Looks like RDR2 will be the last Rockstar game to have a decent story mode. I'm pretty meh about the GTA series, but it's a shame that RDR3 will be gold spray paint on their online scam at best and a woke pile of shit at worst.
Might be hedging their bets that if GTA 6 flops thanks to DEI, they have GTA V to fall back on.
Either that or they might continue online into GTA 6 somehow, I know 2k will be EXTREMELY hesitant to shut down that cash cow as it's still producing milk..
The chance of GTA 6 flopping due to DEI specific is basically zero. There is too much force behind its train and too many people obsessed with the series to care unless it becomes 80% Woke lectures for hours at a time. Unfortunate but the way it is.
Its much more likely to flop due to being far too taxing technically for a majority of systems, even current gen consoles that people play GTA on mostly, and be basically unplayable due to lag and bugs. RD2 showed how much they love unnecessary systems in their game for no useful reason.
There are like 5 games that wont fail. GTA, minecraft, roblox, fortnite and cod. Itll take multiple shitty releases or dei releases to possibly.. possibly kill. Look at stupid cod. Dei and shitty, still chugging along.
It takes a lot to kill legacy, cultural phenonemon games.
Not just legacy, but games bought by the most reliable demographics in gaming.
Niggers/South Americans and teenage boys. These are the guys who buy every sports game, every CoD, and play GTAO. It takes a lot to shake these off, even if the game is garbage they will still keep buying.
It really only happens if a viable competitor is around to truly challenge them when they stumble, as CoD and Battlefield both learned about the other.

Todd Howard is laughing in the background and preparing Skyrim for the Switch 2
Toddrim was a lightning in a bottle that bethesda tries to replicate again and again.
Welcome to the rent-seeking economy.
Obligatory addition.

The modern industry is a joke.

With an all new singing and dancing GTA VI lined up to come out this year why have Rockstar touched up their 12 year old game for players to enjoy?

Chances go up if they actually dare to make the base game cost even more than current games are charging.
It will be a commercial success, but expected.
The fact that this horse statue's balls don't shrink and expand according to temperature is an insult to the developers who put that into RDR2.
