He waxes poetic about how he admires the concept of dictatorship, and how China is admirable in how it treats its citizens. Beyond just socially, he literally earmarked money for a good friend into the federal budget simply because his good friend gave him a cool Christmas present. And admitted to it. He got a Conflict of Interest court ruling against him over it, wrists were slapped. And then he did it again shortly afterwards! And people just... ignore it.
Having the media on your side, which selectively chooses what stories to cover and emphasize, and having a population with the memory of a goldfish, all definitely helps.
Trudeau will be replaced when the female population no longer finds him attractive. His best political interests are served by hitting the gym, watching his diet, guarding his hairline, and keeping a fashion consultant on retainer.
Thank god there are currently no leftist tyrants with boyish good looks in the American system.

That means it has to get approved two more times by the house (likely as NPD-Lib work together), but also approved three times by the Senate, where this bill will likely die. That is what happened last time they tried this exact thing about 2 years ago. Each reading also takes ~2-6 months to prepare, so Trudeau will likely be out of office before this can be made law on even if the Senate fast-tracked it.
If it fails, they're going to try again in 2 more years or less. People are only getting more upset with things, and the divide between them and their government can only get so wide before enough officials believe that legislation is necessary.
Conservatives are so far in the range of majority that even if they performed as poorly as possible given current polls they would still win a majority.
