WuFlu truly broke some people. I still see people wearing masks whenever I go grocery shopping.

Even my very agreeable/conscientious mother has commented on it: "why are they still wearing masks when they don't have to anymore?"

I will never forgive those who promulgated this shit for what they have done to those I care about. So many people were permanently broken by the global propaganda machine.

Reminder that many children lost some of the most important formative years of their lives to being stuck in masks unable to learn body language and facial recognition.

So the consequences of the Lockdown will have left a literal permanent scar across an entire generation's social abilities that we will be feeling soon and for the next 60+ years.

Yup me too, most are in their 30s, I see a few older folk (60+) wearing them but the older folk I can let it slide

I would like to encourage everyone who feels sick to wear a mask, as is common courtesy in japan. But now when you see someone with a mask, you gotta throw a political label at them.

I don't live in Japan; it's not "common courtesy" here.

Ok. If someone were to cough directly into your face, would you consider that rude?

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 7 ▼
– lgbtqwtfbbq 7 points 2 years ago +7 / -0

Yes, because "don't cough directly into someone's face" is a common courtesy where I live.

Fortunately "wear a mask you fuckin' savage" and "cough directly into someone's face" aren't the only two options.

Ok. Do you think it is polite to cover your mouth with your hand or elbow when you cough?

Is this going somewhere? If so, perhaps you could just make your point without the Socratic dialog.

I made my point in my first post: I would like sick people to wear a mask to reduce the chance of their germ infected airborn saliva particles from entering my body. When you hurl political insults at anyone who decides to do this, you are potentially punishing someone just for being courteous. I would like you to stop doing this so that society may improve somewhat. I don't want to degenerate into India where everyone is infecting everyone else with the maximum number of diseases at all times.

I used Japan as an example of a society where wearing a mask when you are sick is considered common courtesy. Your response was "I don't live in japan.". This gives off serious "but I did eat breakfast this morning" vibes, so I thought I would try walking you through a basic reasoning process, even though I knew this was probably a doomed effort, I held out hope.

That's true, I wore a mask when I was sick in Japan and never thought it was a big deal before COVID. On the other hand their work culture discourages taking days off to the degree that you have people going to work and coughing into their masks next to everyone instead of just staying home. I'm worried about America adopting that culture since we like to overwork too.

I'm going to ignore the rest of your bullshit, because u/lgbtqwtfbbq already did an adequate job dismantling your false dichotomy.

Masks can actually make things worse, if worn for a prolonged period. Just cover your mouth when you need to sneeze or cough and don't be a weirdo.

But now when you see someone with a mask, you gotta throw a political label at them.

They're useful idiots and wearing the masks is just them making sure everyone else can see it.

if worn for a prolonged period

That's why you don't wear it for a prolonged period, you just wear it when you are sick but need to go out. You guys have ignored conditional phrases so much you're either operating in bad faith or you all ride the short bus.

They're useful idiots and wearing the masks is just them making sure everyone else can see it.

The world is not made of two warring tribes. Most people don't even have a twitter account. The kind of performative social manipulators you see in viral videos are actually quite rare.

I just realized left something out. The masks offered zero benefits, at least against the Wuhan Flu. Seeing as how they were pushed under the pretense of stopping the Wuhan Flu, is where the idiot part comes in.

The world is not made of two warring tribes. Most people don't even have a twitter account. The kind of performative social manipulators you see in viral videos are actually quite rare.

I said they were useful idiots, as in they actually believed the bullshit they were fed. I never claimed they were virtue signaling.

As in they make it obvious they're idiots. A lot like you, really, seeing as how you've switched to exclusively sperging out about how I phrased things.

Taylor Lorenz: social media companies aren't censoring hard enough, even though we've been reduced to talking like we're back in grade school due to how the algorithm is heavily weighted to minimize screeching from professional internet hall monitors like her.

Also Taylor Lorenz: cutesify a social media company that refused to take down videos of kids being raped until a huge uproar occurred and PH faced the prospect of lawsuits and criminal investigations.

I see she has her moral priorities straight.
