They’re seriously moving PS5 into maintenance mode? What next-gen games did they even release for this thing? Probably the only one that interested me was the Demon’s Souls remake, but I already played the original. Man, what a gigantic flop of a console.
I usually get a next generation console when a game I'm interested comes out. Between the fact that I haven't seen anything interesting and their mismanagement of the shortage situation (how fucking hard is it to implement a waitlist?) I'm not at all surprised that the PS5 is failing to meet sales expectations.
JFC this. Even the Switch has a far more compelling library than the PS5. It’s telling that the just-released Persona 3 remake is ALSO available on the PS4. And if Sony is moving to latter life strategies when the system is just over 3 years old then, yeah, it’s bomb.
I had to double check that release date. It is indeed just over three years ago, even less for some countries. The PS4 has sold over 100 million units compared to the PS5's 50 million. The PS5 will close the gap a little, but it's peak sales are behind it already. Eat shit, Soyny.
For me, the PS5's (as well as Xbox Series X's) most compelling titles are multiplatform games, specifically Armored Core VI, Tales of Arise, Tekken 8, and Elden Ring; along with a few others.
I think the best current titles are otherwise generally available on the Switch. What they all have in common for me as that they seem to be free from woke propaganda, are at least good at being apolitical, and focus on great gameplay and storytelling.
With regards to first party exclusives, I share your guys' sentiments that Sony and Microsoft have mostly failed to win me over this generation.
I am in the same boat, literally none of the games are in any way worth getting a PS5 for. I can just as easily play most of the stuff that comes over to PC in a yearish which is often times a better experience for me, too. Sony has dropped the ball, hard.
This Gen of consoles got released back in 2020 and they still make games for the previous generation. The PS5 and Series X are trash as are most triple A titles. Nintendo and PC makers have got to be laughing their asses off.
It's enraging, but not for the obvious reasons, but for the cultural reasons.
It's not just limited to games, either.
Consumable media -- despite what some may think -- is important for establishing, retaining, extolling, and sharing culture. Without culture it's just flesh-suits shagging and killing one another. Culture is the cornerstone of civilisation.
But if the media is designed to subvert the culture, then you're essentially consuming something designed to destroy a pillar of that civilisation.
What we've been seeing lately is the subversion of culture through media, done on purpose.
We have the greatest era of modern technology at our disposal, and it's all being used to subvert and brainwash; to demoralise and proliferate regressive cultural programming.
What's so enraging here is that we should have been seeing an evolution of software to match the advancements in hardware, but we have not. Nearly every major studio is licensing shoddy general purpose engines to (re)make the same thing they've been putting out for the last 15 years. They cut off at the knees any sort of creative endeavours to ensure they are putting out a product that adheres to the ESG's DEI standards, and they are dead-set on using the platforms and countless hundreds of millions of dollars to force-feed people counterintuitive messaging aimed at crippling the general populace's view on the integrity of Western culture.
It's not just that there are no games, it's that what games that are there are designed to be vile caricatures of what was once a medium and conduit used to indulge in a great cultural burgeoning.
Game franchises that became renown are now husks; a shell used to spread "The Message". Brands that were once lauded for their technological prowess in pushing the medium forward are now moved along a conveyor belt of convenience to convey little else other than the degenerate standards of the growing kakistocracy. And properties that were once used to elevate the expectations of artistic ingenuity and prolific storytelling have devolved into pulpits for proselytising an orthodoxy built on the demoralising deconstruction of Western values.
TL;DR: It doesn't matter that the PS5 doesn't have many games to play, because even if they had a few that were fun and enjoyable, it would make up for the scarcity. However, the few games that are there are not made to be fun, but are simply vehicles for Leftist political propaganda and a tool to further destroy Western culture.
The PS5 is a meme console. I’m convinced a lot of people bought it because during the pandemic it was a way to brag and say “I’m not worried about my job. Look at how I blow money on shit.”

And the only real thing Demon's Souls brought to the table was actual working online servers with a playerbase above 15.
Nothing else about it was worth paying for.

Between the stupid censorship and the lack of compelling exclusives i have no reason to upgrade from ps4 to ps 5.
I straight-up bought a used PS4 just to play Bloodborne.
NO GAMES
I hated the meme when it was new, because it made no sense.
I had tons of fun with my PS3.
But a couple of generations later...
The PS3 started off really slow, though even PS3 had more exclusives 1 year into it's life than PS5 has had.
What a spectacular failure this generation of consoles has been.

Okay, so your console is dead.

Wasn't the only big PS5 exclusive since it released the Final Fantasy 7 remake?
The PS5 is a meme console. I’m convinced a lot of people bought it because during the pandemic it was a way to brag and say “I’m not worried about my job. Look at how I blow money on shit.”
Outside of from software games I’ve exclusively played the free psn games this generation.
Next fiscal year or this fiscal year?
Fiscal years run April to April.
So it's either the rest of February and March with no titles, or a bit more worrying, 14 months of no major PS5 titles.
