We're making some updates to our Sexual Content Policy. We realize that our earlier update caused people who aren't actively fucking one of our jannies to think they could get away with streaming content that might appeal to heterosexual men.
They got pressure from advertisers and payment processors who got wind of the changes and gave them an ultimatum - reverse it or else.
Then they found out about what Twitch has been allowing prior to the original changes this week, in particular because under 18's can access the site. So they'll have to go further than just a reversal.
Essentially sounds like they changed the rules from accommodate the their favourite titty streamers, didn't want it applying to others who prefer to have fictional adult content (as harder to force someone to play ball when all you got is pictures of fictional nudes) and caused too much backlash over banning so many creators that they had to revise it.
They banned over 10 Vtubers over this rule change , most of them were just DRAWING adult orientated content on stream, they even banned my boy Baalbuddy who perfectly represented why I love tomboys in female Orc form! Meanwhile the titty streamers that started this mess are all unbanned.
I'm guessing Google, Apple and a myriad of TV manufactures told them that they were going to be punted out of their app stores and default app installs if they go full OnlyFans.
See, I'm thinking it's a push from the gaming companies that try to use that site. Games like league or counterstrike can't exactly compete with the porn industry, and if they do people will inevitably side with the latter due to the sheer number of options the former has. It's like a few years back where if I remember right a bunch of MLB teams wanted a stricter salary cap under the guise of "better competition", but was actually because the yankees were making many of the teams irrelevant.
That's a big problem for the parent company because their website is reliant on payment processors providing them service. And now they also know about all the other controversy prior to this week's changes.
And in the UK, that's now probably the least of their concerns.
From what I have read, Ofcom has received complaints about Twitch and their requirements under the Online Safety Act to keep underage individuals safe from adult and harmful content - including one from a prominent campaigner against child predators. This could escalate if Ofcom act, at least from a UK perspective.
Wouldn't even be mad if Twitch and all of social media by extension range banned the UK.
Would run the risk of the government attempting to step in, but that always simply ends up being some poorly veiled cronyism plot to gut the financing while delivering a barely functional product, so still wouldn't actually leave a working setup.
If it were just Twitch, the Government wouldn't care, they'd just tell people to get off video games and get a girlfriend. If their parent company pulled out of the UK however...
The rest of the world isolating the UK and hitting its economy is going to be the only way that the Government will listen. Sadly, the people being given airtime are the people who say the Government are not going far enough with safety. This is a country where the Covid inquiry is likely to rule that we need to lockdown faster, harder and keep restrictions permanently.
Twitch had thot streamers who didn't do enough favours to staff but were too big to be outright banned so they organized this gay ops to bait said thots to cross the line. Now that the undesirables have been filtered they turn back the policy.

More like “We are going to get fucked in international courts because he allowed porn on our platform.”

What? They banned Baalbuddy? But he does WHOLESOME parody of lewd stuff! Or does he do actual lewds too?
He was literally drawing the Statue of David, the ur-example of "artistic nude", at the time.
He does lewds too, it pays the bills lol
He's one of the rare lewd artists where people pay more for his SFW shitposts than his actual NSFW content.
I'm guessing Google, Apple and a myriad of TV manufactures told them that they were going to be punted out of their app stores and default app installs if they go full OnlyFans.
I think this is a push from MasterCard. They're trying to crack down on this.

Twitch: "we're becoming a porn site!"
App stores: "no you're not lol"

honestly, the easiest solution is to tell the UK people "your government sucks, that's why we're IP banning all of the UK"
same as they should do to europe the next time the eurotrash tries to fuck them

So they make a massive change and then reverse it 24 hours later? Twitch is run by drooling retards.
worse, trannies and diversity hires
Those check the 'drooling retard' box by default.
It was a PR stunt. Everyone was giving “hot takes” on the twitch situation for a solid 48 hours.

Twitch's own Youtube adpocalypse??
Tinfoil hat time:
