As long as he does whatever Nintendo tells him then it could be decent, but I have zero expectations of it being good. They really should just be making an animated series, or an OVA instead.
Forced catchphrase usage aside, the 1989 Zelda cartoon was better than people give it credit for, especially for the time. A shame it was so tied to the Fridays of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show, and thus only having 13 episodes, because it really could have stood on its own.
She wasn't at all imo. She plays the role of a diplomats with Mario being her muscle. The only possibly girl boss moment in the movie is when she beats him at the obstacle course. And in my view they implied that everyone in the mushroom kingdom could do it, not that Peach was super awesome. Mario being a foreigner is his biggest obstacle.
And in the end, the 11th hour savior isn't Peach OR Mario, it's Luigi being willing to jump into the fire to help his brother without even knowing what's going on.
Brotherhood is the hero of the movie. It didn't read as woke to.me at all really.
I have asked Avi-san to produce this film with me, and we have now officially started the development of the film with Nintendo itself heavily involved in the production. It will take time until its completion, but I hope you look forward to seeing it. [2]
The only classic first-party Nintendo properties I could see functioning in a meatspace film would have to be Metroid and maybe Fire Emblem.
Metroid could work as an action sci-fi with horror elements, although the games themselves cover it pretty well already, not sure how much more an film could bring to it, aside from more realism.
And maybe Fire Emblem simply because that genre of fantasy the games are based in has already been done in many live-action forms. Even with magic and the dragons/Mamkutes, it wouldn't be difficult, though the plots of the games are sometimes shoe-string. I'd prefer it be an anime though (not the garbage CGI they did in Three Houses)
Path of Radiance actually had a surprisingly good story. If there was a Fire Emblem movie made, that'd be one I wouldn't mind being the main inspiration.
Avi Arad is the worst sort of corporate kleptocrat, reading the book about his takeover of marvel in the 90s still raises my blood pressure to think about.

an israeli guy huh? this is going to be so bad
And making movies with current Western companies is the equivalent of rolling in piles of shit and the shit will get stuck on you as well

With a very few exceptions, live-action remakes of anime are all garbage where you can smell the compromises taking place behind the scenes.

high fantasy movies are very hit or miss, even ones based on popular mythologies or videogames.
This Zelda movie at best will be as good as the forgettable Conan reboot from 2011 or Beowulf from 2007.
You're not going to have much luck making Hollywood movies without Israelis involved.
Yes, Jews have a reputation for being shit in Hollywood and the arts.
"muh jew"
It'll probably be bad because it's a video game movie. It has nothing to do with the guy being a jew.
My bet: Link is going to be a total wimp who has to be saved by a black stronk Zelda who don't need no man.
They already pretty much did that with the Mario movie so why not Link right? And then they made the Peach games boxart look like the movie
To play devil’s advocate: Mario and Luigi aren’t from the Mushroom Kingdom in the movie, they got truck isekai’d into it.
Idk how bad of a feminist/stronk woman Peach actually is in the movie, but that is what happened

I would almost be willing to bet that's exactly what "Nintendo itself heavily involved in the production" means.
I'm sure the Japanese suits have to deal with wrangling their IPs away from going too woke at the behest of the NOA division.
Mario probably would have been an even worse movie if Nintendo hadn't been hands-on in the production.
No good can come of this. I don't want this.

And it will suck, probably.

Et tu, Nin'do? Then fall gamers.

Yeah, this is going to be trash. Keep your expectations very low, until proven otherwise.
