Dear god I wish, was my number one reviewer at the time even though I wasn't a PC gamer.
He made me want to go 'fuck cancer' even more, him and there was a Starcraft player, think he died of cancer too. Was on his podcast and extremely funny.
I just ignored that as chemo brain is an actual thing, I remember how he was before chemo and how he got the longer he was on it.
Turns out pumping someone fully of toxic chemicals as a cancer treatment changes their personality and temperament. Who knew? It's like we shouldn't be on a rush to give kids drugs and even worse hormone 'treatments' as it could fundamentally affect their brains...
He existed in a time where that wasn't required and all he had to do was review it at a technical level.
He went through chemo just as gg started up and called out the 'games journalists' as the reason it got bigger. So it didn't really matter he wasn't as based as others, most of the ones we call based now only became that way after they went through hell then came out the other side, before a lot of them were lefty.
Just with TB he went through physical hell and didn't come out the other side...
I don't put much stock into anything he said or did after his cancer returned and it became clear that he wasn't gonna be around for much longer. Remember, he was acting like an asshole toward even his wife and colleagues towards the end.
The real John Bain was already gone long before his body gave up.
Ignoring the gameplay being full of bullet sponge mobs that can be revived, I'm not impressed by the state of the PC version from what I'm hearing. A complete lack of FoV slider that is, of course, coupled with a narrow default value of 70-80. Being unable to activate VSync ingame and instead needing to force it with your GPU panel. RTX is coming later in a fucking patch. Some are claiming there's forced mouse acceleration, though some are also claiming otherwise. For an industry that is trying to push a new $70 price tag, they'd doing a pretty shit job as convincing people of it.
Maybe once the game goes on sale for like $20 and gets a year worth of patches, I'll check it out. Though, from my limited time with the maintag, I might not even bother.

This game has a lot of masculine men, feminine women, and lots of crude humor that you used to see in old GTA games that you'd never see anymore with all this sanitized "we can't cause le offense except to ze Trumpers!" crowd.
I picked it up. The game is beautiful but has some weird design choices. The gameplay is slow for a fps, early on it seems melee focused and it's skewed towards the difficult side. I expect this will even out as upgrades become available . Also, the dialogue. The main character seems written by two people who never met. One conversation he'll be seemingly respectful, and ten seconds later he's an insufferable dick for no reason. It's bearable but they definitely needed better writers.
Got it on gamepass, pretty fun so far. The melee combat is kind of strange, like it feels harder than it needs to be, sometimes enemy melee attacks get a ton of range out of nowhere and they knock you on your ass from across the room. Story and world building are interesting, the art design is great.
The voice acting ranges from decently hammy to God awful, and some of the dialogue is pretty strange, I chalk it ip to being poorly translated I guess. I had a problem using my controller with it, I had to shut down steam for some reason to get my controller to work, very odd. And you can’t remap gamepad buttons or even see a picture of the controller commands.
Overall I’m liking it so far, I don’t know if I would have been happy paying full price for it but it’s fine on Gamepass.
Being expected to pay $60 for a game that doesn't have something as bog standard as an FoV slider in a FPS shooter is inexcusable and reeks of "2008 tier PC port".
What you guys seem to be missing is that requiring a user to have enough wherewithal to open a .ini file serves to gatekeep the masses. Letting everyone in by making things too accessible has lead to a lot of problems.
Maybe that's not the ideal vector to use for gatekeeping, but it's one I'd be willing to tolerate.
