If so what did you think? I help with the youth at church and suggested it to one of the high school kids because he mentioned an interest in the multiverse idea and I suggested he watch Sliders. I didn’t see it til I got Hulu in 2010 but I remember when it originally aired. I hate that it ends on a cliffhanger and they couldn’t even do a book to close out the series. Lead guy leaving hurt the series as well. Cro-Mags was an interesting concept but maybe they ran with it too long. Overall I like the show and the original cast was best

Yeah it was great until they killed off the professor and replaced him with the big boobed chick. Nothing against big boob chicks but it felt like a jumping the shark moment. I suppose Wade was the one really getting replaced but I never cared for her anyway. Arturo getting shot hurt.
I hated the Kromagg arc and thought they should've been confined to a two part episode at most. Sliders strength was its crazy "what-if" plots. The perfect combination of an anthology and serial. It didn't need an overall storyline except "how do we get home?"
She [Kari Wuhrer] doesn't even have those anymore, she had her implants removed at some point.
She cropped up in a few places after though. She's in 1 episode of Stargate Atlantis as John Sheppard's ex-wife when he goes back to Earth for his father's funeral. She played Tanya in Red Alert one time, too.
From boobs to b00bs
How the fuck have I not noticed that Tanya was in Stargate Atlantis? That's what I'm doing this evening; verifying this. Wait you said "one episode" not "episode one" so I probably don't have it on DVD and haven't seen it. Nevermind.
She's in season 4 episode 15.
All of Stargate and Atlantis are on Dailymotion if you know where to look.
Do note many vids are cropped or framed in such a way to avoid detection and may also need their playspeed settings played with as in this case where you need to set things to 1.25x speed.
Thanks for the episode. I only have the first 3 seasons but if I'm going to pirate it I will do it the proper way with a torrent.
Yes! Kro-mags could’ve been an interesting 2 parter where during the season finale they escape their world and see that they are followed and the next season opener resolves it. But like you said the fun of the show is the various earths and multiverse theory has always interested me so I loved that aspect. I also felt Wade and the lead character should’ve been a couple. Professor was good and so was Remy. Granted it would’ve been cool if he could’ve stayed on the earth where he was an Elvis like figure
It's so strange to realize the professor is Salah from Indiana Jones and Gimli.
There was some pretty heavy hitters in the series. John Rhys Davies was known for his theatrical roles and in particular, the Indiana Jones series. Jerry O'Connel was the fat kid from Stand By Me and other projects. My favorite, however, was Cleavont Derricks. Working on Broadway most of his life, he had a great career, including a good run on the original Dream Girls. I'm sure the microwaved fish had something before the series, but I'm not a fan of seafood.
I didn’t know he was in the original Dream Girls. I’ll have to check it out.

He played Effie's brother, I think. Been a while since I watched.
In so much that having things freeze frame on Remy charging a Kromag world counts as something that could be resolved.
Losing Quinn and his brother then replacing them with "Mallory" and the other science chick was definitely the last nail in the coffin though after so many things changed over the seasons.
Kromags just became a literal "baby eating Nazi" stereotype except they ate human eyeballs instead of babies specifically. They were however literally written and garbed as Nazis in the end, though.
Yea, I’ve always been fascinated by the multiverse theory and this show really appealed to me with the “what if this thing had happened instead” concept. Kromags would’ve been good for a two parter but that’s it and like you said once the professor died it was downhill. I also thought Quinn and Wade should’ve been together. I came to really like Remy at the end since he was the last link to the beginning
Given you read comics if you haven't read the older, original Exiles runs from Marvel they can be quite interesting as it involves AU versions of various X-men characters working together and regularly kills off members to bring in new ones.
There's also the obvious "What if...?" series as well as the Marvel multiverse in general.
I’ve read the What Ifs (recently read the one about Korvac) but not the Exiles. I’ll check it out. Thanks!
Used to watch it a ton as a kid, I can't imagine the graphics hold up today.
Most of all I remember the episode where they made it home and checked the gate, only to leave and the granddad comes out after having fixed the gate's squeak.
This one
Fuuuuuuuuuuck that's heartbreaking given all the shit that happens to them after.
I had to switch VPN to Brazil to watch that clip.
Great moment. I was always hoping they'd make it back there again.
The first couple of seasons were good. It got progressively worse as it lost more and more of the original cast members.
That show's old enough that it may simply not be relatable to someone currently in high school, regardless of how good it is.
For example I've started re-watching Arrested Development, and all the references to Saddam Hussein and the Iraq War (eg the scene where they pull George Bluth out of the bunker and check his teeth the way they did when they captured Saddam) would make no sense at all to someone who hadn't lived through that.
I get that but it’s a good way to learn history. I watch stuff from the 60s where they make topical humor and I know what they are referring to. Granted sometimes I have to look it up but still it’s doable. Sliders is cool because of how at the beginning of each episode they see how the earth they are on diverges from the one they know. At least I always liked that
Yeah I watch stuff made before I was born too, but it's very hit or miss.
I guess that was my polite way of saying "you're now the guy in his 40s trying to make a good-faith effort to connect with high-schoolers. You probably remember what it was like from the other side: the probability of acting cringe and out of touch is high despite your best intentions. Tread carefully."
Oh I get what you mean. Well this kid is very nerdy and isn’t like your average teen so I figured he could appreciate it since I was a nerdy teen but I had to remind myself when I started volunteering that I am not cool and to not try to be the guy in his 40s trying to show younger generations how cool he is.
Same reason to watch MASH. Learn things that are common across time and space, and some history, that shows things are common across time and space.
It's not like the constant references to the Shah of Iran (he did 20 fuckin years in the can), Iran-Contra, Prince, etc. In 80s and 90s cartoons stopped me from having fun
It had an info-tainment element that made it interesting and raised it above its cheap production values. But when it got turned into an action show it became unbearable.
Ignoring everything after the first 2 seasons, it was and still is one of my fave TV series. Anyone who hasn't seen it should definitely give it a try.
During the height of covid I happened to re-watch the episode that is about a pandemic that turns the country into a totalitarian shithole, and it was fucking surreal.
watched a few episodes years back. same with seven days.
Seven Days?
show about a guy who works at no such agency and they have a big time machine sphere that can go back in time one week and they use it to prevent terror attacks and the like.
Shit was goofy, but fun. Definitely worth a watch. God, the 90s were a dead tide for culture, but great for scifi shows.
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks the show went downhill after Rhys-Davies left. It was great until then. Felt a lot like Star Trek, except instead of worlds of hats they're universes of hats. It also had the "hop from interesting locale to interesting locale until you get back home" schtick like Voyager, which unlike everyone else I enjoyed quite a bit.
Neither did the show after it fucked up the O'Connell brothers casting and ended up ditching both of them in the final season.
Primeval is the British show where they go back to the dinosaur times?
You refer to the cro-mags. The only one from the original cast at the end was Remy.
Thanks. I don’t know why I’ve been spelling it like that all these years
Well it's based on Cro-Magnon man, so common mistake no doubt.
I remember watching it fairly regularly as a child/teen. It was probably good enough but I've never considered finding it again.
The concept is neat; it's a form of solipcism that rides on a spiritualized quantum mechanics.
Here's an awesome list of short stories, for the young mind. "Divided By Infinity" touches on sliding.
Thanks! I love the idea of multiverse and quantum physics
You’ll laugh but I even found Remy’s song and downloaded it. But good show overall. At the very least I’d love to get an ending
Which one? I got like 3 or 4 of them.
Tears in my fro.

Cry like a Man! This is one of those tv/movie songs that were created for the show, but could have been a hit if released in real life.
I thought so too. Really good.
Yes!!
Cool! Thanks! I’m surprised I didn’t watch it when it aired but you know as a kid and teen in the 90s I had a lot to watch on tv plus video games plus surfing the net. Is he trying to get the original cast? I would hate for it to be woke. That’s great to hear the network ruined it as opposed to the creator. Cro-Mags are good for a one off because the excitement of the show for me was seeing different versions of earth. In your head canon how does it end?
True. I notice I rate highly shows from decades past simply because it’s so much better than crap today. Remy was a cool character! I hated how it all ended too. I wanted to see Wade and Quinn get together actually. Also would’ve been neat to let Remy stay as the Elvis like Star on that one earth but by the end I was glad he was there since he was the last link to the original crew. I’ll listen to that interview soon. Thanks again!
Didn’t know that. I’ll check it out.
MR. MALLORY! Oh my god, the show had cheap effects and cheesy plots, but boy was it fun for the first 2.5 seasons. John Rhys Davies quit because the third season turned out to be shit and the network meddled and basically stole the show from Tracey Torme, Mel Torme's son.
Mr. Bendish. Will Sasso. CRY LIKE A MAN! Tears in my Fro!
I loved the episode where they were on the world where he became popular like Elvis and I thought he was leaving the show and that was his send off. I loved it when it was about a parallel earth and learning how it deviated from our world. The Kromags should’ve been a 2 parter at most.
Exactly! And that was Cleavont's twin brother.
"They literally wanted a part of me, and I loved every minute of it."
"I said I love it, but I can't survive it!"
Is that why it moved to sci-fi?
Hollywood as usual. Ego, politics, and ambition. There are lots of ways to poise things for success or make them sure to fail. Knowing this, almost everything has been hand-picked for winners and losers.
Something to consider.
Same bullshit FOX did with Firefly
