Okay, I can believe it because corruption but still it's insane.

If I remember right they wanted to host it in a place with extreme temperatures, a radical culture, and a government built on fucking over english-speakers. Unfortunately, Quebec refused to host it, so they settled on their second option.

Chuckles...

Unironically, you could probably argue Mexico and Lula's Brazil fit that bill, too...

Or, more obviously, Venezuela or Cuba. But nah, you win this one!

So it's hot as fuck, you're in a country where you can't tell if the women are pretty, strict rules and now you can't buy alcohol anywhere but stadiums where it'll be expensive as hell and probably taste like shit.

Hope the bribes were worth it, this looks like it'll be the decline for the world Cup popularity for a while.

The alcohol thing is actually even weirder than that...

You can buy it in certain places, at certain times, but you are limited to two light beers per person (as was the plan for the stadiums).

What you're missing is that the plan was to allow Bud to be sold in the stadiums, but now, that isn't an option. So it is only elsewhere that fans can get their fix.

Unironically, I don't know if female foreigners are even allowed to buy booze, or if it just men. But yeah, it IS available, just... a) not in the stadiums, b) nowhere near the stadiums (because they are being built in areas with v limited infrastructure), c) in very limited availability, and like I said, seemingly only light beer, d) at even higher than stadium prices, and e) if you get caught publicly drunk, or making out with a girl in public, or even cohabiting with a woman when you aren't married, that unironically carries a jail term...

Not sure if they are relaxing the last point for foreigners/tourists, though.

Almost literally hell on earth, lol.

Fuck this absolute circus.

I don't care what Qatar prohibits for their own people. I don't think anyone should go there. I guess if you need to extract their oil then do your thing. It shouldn't be anyone's vacation.

You fundamentally have zero understanding of this World Cup, or FIFA, or Qatar, or the finances and legal bullshit of any of this, if that is your response…

You’re either incredibly naïve, or you’re just a troll.

They literally admit that the über-wealthy, and FIFA officials, will have access to whatever alcohol they want, for the mere price tag of $19,000+ per seat. So it’s not even consistent in its “Sharia” bullshit.

It’s just another case of stunning hypocrisy. Which you are incredibly foolish to attempt to align yourself with.

What kind sick, twisted individual would even propose that! I don't even drink and I know that's evil!

Heh. Oh I agree, but they pay something like $70M to FIFA per World Cup for the exclusive privilege, lol…

In this case it was to be Bud Light and Bud Light alone, so even worse!

If you're going to sodomise people for alcohol in a country where sodomy is illegal, at least make it German beer!

I'm betting anyone that ACTUALLY goes is going to be in their heads saying "I could have been on the couch, watching this than in this hot ass country with only alcohol pisswater to drink!"

Those in corporate areas of stadiums at the tournament will still be able to purchase alcohol.

AB InBev just got fucked, the foot fairy fans are already used to taking it up the ass.

The best thing about this cup is all these woke corporations taking a big L.

In Germany fans aren't buying even close to half the merchandise they usually buy. The best-selling Adidas jersey isn't the one from the German team but from the Mexican team. About 10% of consumers used to buy a new TV for world cups. This times it's barely 3%.

I guess kneeling rainbow idiots aren't as popular as they thought.

I'd love to believe that the decline in merch and TV sales are a result of fans being alienated by the fact that their sport and their teams actively hate them, but your average normie consumer will still consume in spite of that. The drop in sales is probably more due to Germans not having any money because they're spending it all on heating their homes.

Officials are blaming it on all the negativity around and criticism of the host country. Who knows. Either way, they're losing out on a lot of money and that's good.

More fun than the holier-than-thou kneeling rainbow faggot brigade from the West. Although that's not a particularly high bar.

They're each worthy of hatred, derision, and expulsion from civilized society. No point in ranking them.

Well, you kept on pushing lgbtq down their throats and all that other bullshit that goes down in the west and they pushed back on it, seems reasonable to me?

I absolutely cannot wait to see how Al-Jazeera English, one of Reddit's favourite "news sources", spins this as a "good thing", lol...

I think some people here are misinterpreting this slightly...

The "enemy of my enemy", sure, but in this case, the towelheads are not "the good guys", or in any way who you should support here...

Stoning gays doesn't on its own make you some paragon of "healthy" civilisational values or some shit...

Oh, and that’s right, they merely jail and execute the gays, these days…

So much better!

It’s their Saudi neighbours doing the stoning, still.

All-round fantastic regimes. Just the sort of people we should all waste our time defending on the internet… 🤦🏻‍♂️

Clown.

If you would rather side with an unironically Islamofascist regime than people from, one presumes, your own country, as you have repeatedly demonstrated throughout this thread, then I really have nothing more to say to you…

Amusingly this is one thing that probably 90% of non-Muslims will agree on, barring those with vested interests, and yet here you are defending one of the most dogshit regimes on Earth. Brilliant.

Waste someone else’s time, frankly.

The "enemy of my enemy"

The enemy of my enemy is useful cannon fodder in my war against them. If they were anything more, they would be an ally instead.
