World Cup 2022: Alcohol sales banned at World Cup stadiums in Qatar (archive.ph)

So it's hot as fuck, you're in a country where you can't tell if the women are pretty, strict rules and now you can't buy alcohol anywhere but stadiums where it'll be expensive as hell and probably taste like shit.

Hope the bribes were worth it, this looks like it'll be the decline for the world Cup popularity for a while.

The alcohol thing is actually even weirder than that...

You can buy it in certain places, at certain times, but you are limited to two light beers per person (as was the plan for the stadiums).

What you're missing is that the plan was to allow Bud to be sold in the stadiums, but now, that isn't an option. So it is only elsewhere that fans can get their fix.

Unironically, I don't know if female foreigners are even allowed to buy booze, or if it just men. But yeah, it IS available, just... a) not in the stadiums, b) nowhere near the stadiums (because they are being built in areas with v limited infrastructure), c) in very limited availability, and like I said, seemingly only light beer, d) at even higher than stadium prices, and e) if you get caught publicly drunk, or making out with a girl in public, or even cohabiting with a woman when you aren't married, that unironically carries a jail term...

Not sure if they are relaxing the last point for foreigners/tourists, though.

Almost literally hell on earth, lol.

Fuck this absolute circus.

What kind sick, twisted individual would even propose that! I don't even drink and I know that's evil!

Heh. Oh I agree, but they pay something like $70M to FIFA per World Cup for the exclusive privilege, lol…

In this case it was to be Bud Light and Bud Light alone, so even worse!

If you're going to sodomise people for alcohol in a country where sodomy is illegal, at least make it German beer!

I'm betting anyone that ACTUALLY goes is going to be in their heads saying "I could have been on the couch, watching this than in this hot ass country with only alcohol pisswater to drink!"

I don't care what Qatar prohibits for their own people. I don't think anyone should go there. I guess if you need to extract their oil then do your thing. It shouldn't be anyone's vacation.

You fundamentally have zero understanding of this World Cup, or FIFA, or Qatar, or the finances and legal bullshit of any of this, if that is your response…

You’re either incredibly naïve, or you’re just a troll.

They literally admit that the über-wealthy, and FIFA officials, will have access to whatever alcohol they want, for the mere price tag of $19,000+ per seat. So it’s not even consistent in its “Sharia” bullshit.

It’s just another case of stunning hypocrisy. Which you are incredibly foolish to attempt to align yourself with.
