In the long term, a Communist occupation can be easily overthrown, and even if it kills people, if that's all it does, you can recover. Perverting the incentives of people, demoralizing them, and then convincing them to enslave themselves to the power structure is far more destructive.

Various other countries then joined in invading and/or organizing their own proxy rebel armies ("Africa's World War") to plunder the riches in the soil in both Congolese wars and the conflict still continues quietly.
