The Welfare State did more damage to blacks than Slavery ever could. It's not even close. It's not even arguable.
And to be clear, Slavery tried to destroy family units. That was an objective.
This isn't the only time we've seen this. The Reservations are arguably worse for Indians than the Wild West was, massacres and all. Pre-Colonial and Colonial Africa wasn't nearly as bad as the 2nd Congalese War which caused the Rawandan Genocide and embroiled the whole continent into a series of Socialist wars, genocides, and famines. The war itself, in combat, seems to have killed over a million people, but the secondary deaths are even worse. Even if we compare East and West Germany, the East is recovering well from decades of Communism (as bad as it was). West Germany has not recovered from Fabian Socialism and is desperately trying to kill itself. In the long term, a Communist occupation can be easily overthrown, and even if it kills people, if that's all it does, you can recover. Perverting the incentives of people, demoralizing them, and then convincing them to enslave themselves to the power structure is far more destructive.
the 2nd Congalese War which caused the Rawandan Genocide
It was the other way round, the Rwandan war caused the war in Congo when the victorious Tutsi rebels (who had invaded from Uganda in first place) invaded the eastern Congo and armed the local Tutsi rebels in order to slaughter the masses of Hutu refugees from Rwanda and the local Hutus and others (eat all Pygmies!) and more importantly take over the rare metal deposits. Various other countries then joined in invading and/or organizing their own proxy rebel armies ("Africa's World War") to plunder the riches in the soil in both Congolese wars and the conflict still continues quietly.
What the article was still afraid to explore was that the whole RPF invasion of Rwanda was always a part of the plan to first seize the power in Rwanda and then pinvade and plunder Congo. The ethnic conflict, which they deliberately unleashed, was just a smokescreen for Kagame's cold blooded criminal enterprise.

I don't think that's right. I'm pretty sure the 2nd Congo War happened started after the Rawandan Genocide.
Watch https://vimeo.com/107867605 as in introduction to what really happened.
Yes, after. Or rather was a continuation of it (a million or so Rwandan and Congolese Hutus exterminated).
