I have a hard time imagining black people listening to lutes/mandolins. They even have 1 darker and 2 lighter-toned characters as if they have both "black and white" sub-groups like we do. Humans are still biologically, and evolutionarily, apes. They're just technological apes. But I would bet dollars to doughnuts that the ancestors of chimps/bonobos and humans (and possibly also gorillas) used simple tools, and ate meat on an opportunistic basis. Humans just wound up being technological specialists in the course of their evolutionary history, thanks to genetic bottlenecks and climate change, as well as migratory habits/willingness to invade new biomes.

Mm, the old stuff before the kerfuffle about gypsies and their weirdness about WW2 (where suddenly the supernaturals are Off the Hook, except for maybe the Beast of War itself) would all make the cockles of a gen-z rise simply because they're pretty much built on regional folklore and cultural stereotype. Putting any kind of positive or negative spin on any of it went really no further than gameplay purposes, and that would depend entirely on the group and whatever kind of story they're telling (not to mention which game specifically they're into.)
If anything, I'd say the most relevant thing out of the oWoD at the moment would be the Defiler Wyrm Ascendant with the goddamn Weaver flexing her muscles right behind it.
That's why you go with older systems that still allow the presence of fun. Heck I had a D&D 2.0 game for a few sessions. Brutal but fun.
WotC now have precisely the audience they deserve.
